Update on Marketing

Been pretty busy lately so I haven't been here much, (but thats good right?) people have have pm'd me asking about my market stradigy, seeing I have tried sveral news things.

My detailing clinics are taking off, great turnouts and response, I get paid average of $200 fo an hour and a half, people get in free. My fee comes from tax dollars. I recently got my own detailing section in a local paper, I write for it once a month, people write in questions to me, I publish the answers. This is great FREE publicity. I also write for a all woman's magazine, and post car care tips, more FREE exposure. I took on two more publications, one nationwide called Old Cars Weekly, I contracted to write for them 8 articles for the 2006 year. the other is local called gearhead news.

I did pay for a few things, haven't decided if it was worh it yet. I paid $900 for a year to get in the yellow book, so far, no calls, book came out last month. I also did 2 coupon inserts costing me around $300 each. Both gong to around 15,000 homes. I have recieved calls but it seems these people are price shopping. I don't need bottom feeders.

One thing I'm pretty excited about, got a call from a guy who does free lancing video work for National Geographic and asked if I would be interested to doing a detailing video, I could not resist his offer. he is flying out frome Ca, in May for 4 days to film the DVD. cost to me is ZERO. He will be the marketing company, (yes and get most of the proceeds from sales) I would get a smaller percentage. I still think its worth it. It will be set up like how an author gets paid from a publisher.

One of my biggest challenges, which I don't know if it will fly, I submitted a query for AARP, the national magazine for people over 55. I told them that a car care section for that magazine would benefit their readers. I don't know how that will fly, but we will see.

I have been doing alot of guest speaking at many car clubs and organizations like the Rotary clubs. Inbetween all this stiff I host several car forums on line, actually detail cars, and do consulting work for a marketing company in the mornings till 11am. Do you think I'm busy enough? Gary :soscared:

Wow, that's a lot of stuff, Gary...I hope you are making money. I don't understand the part about your detailing clinics where you say "My fee comes from tax dollars."

Terrific!!! High level marketing gains trust. Appears you have been catching the big fish and someone else is paying for your bait. Excellent!!! Likewise I did the same sort of marketing with the local TV news and magazine. Keep it rolling, rolling, rolling. LOL
