The application of seat covers will not remedy the existing condition of your leather, but could ward off future degradation. Just a thought.

Yes, seat covers to cover my seat covers. After all the leather is question is just a cover for the cushion underneath. The main reason for buying the leather was for longevity and better wear. I thought that is why it costs more. I've had cars go over 200,000 miles without losing splotches of color on the hides.



The point here is you should not need to cover decent leather.

Ha Ha! Why not rub it in more... Oh wait... rubbing it in caused this problem in the first place. :D :D I'll just have to wait and see what Ford does to fix the issue.
 
Purchases of leather interiors has almost tripled in the past 4 years.



This has put a strain on the suppliers and the result is more and more coating failures due to the grade of the leathers, changes in production procedures to meet the increased demand, etc.



We have had 3 2000 Vettes that we predelivered for a dealer returned to the shops with the color coming off. We look at them, do a quick test and Chevy has to replace them as the clearcoat is gone in some areas.



Same with Fords, Chyrslers, Jags, Audi's,GM's BMW's,Lexus,Hyundai's, you name it.



There is a higher percentage of failure than we have seen since the mid 80's when leather started to be more common.

I am from the north where they spread a lot of salt on the roads and rust is an issue under the car, Has anyone here ever heard of any type of undercarriage sealant (not rubberized undercoating).

Also any good Ideas for removing rust from tight spaces under the car?
 
Undercarriage

After removing dirt, road grime, and etc neutralise the effects of the acidic road salt on the suspension / undercarriage (See also Salt and Road salt)

Methodology
? Thoroughly spray an undiluted citrus cleaner (P2IS Total Auto Wash) and let it soak in; remove by thoroughly rinsing with water. If you have a pressure washer available, fill tank with citrus cleaner and spray undercarriage (do not use excess pressure as water may penetrate crevices and seams where it cannot drain, causing corrosion), let it soak and then remove with plain water
? Spray undercarriage with (Chemical Guys Bare Bones ) one application will leave no residues, noxious fumes or flammable solvents
? Or apply POR-15 Marine Clean? and then two coats of a rust inhibitor paint (POR-15 ) allow each coat to dry

Alternative product - Wurth High Build Underbody Spray produces a jet black, textured finish in wheel wells and on lower rocker panels. This spray will hide a multitude of blemishes and make old wheel wells look factory new. Provides permanent yet flexible protection against flying stones, rust, water and road salts

Wurth SKS Stone Guard matches OEM Factory applied stone protection on vehicles such as BMW, Fiat, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Renault.
