Some of the product suggestions I seen post recently (in the last month) on detailing forums (not necessarily Autopia) -



• Wheel surfaces and Engine bay- Scrubbing Bubbles® toilet cleaner and toilet bowl brush

• Degreaser – Easy Off oven cleaner

• Leather seats – Murphy’s Oil Soap , Shoe polish

• Interior – Woolite® laundry detergent

• Paint Finish – Dawn Washing-up liquid

• Tyres – Shoe polish

• ‘Rubber’ seals / Trim – Johnson’s ®Baby Oil and / or black shoe polish



What ‘alternative car care products have you seen used / recommended?

Scrubbing bubbles seems to get a lot of action on the non detailing forums!

Coke to dress tires. In south asia they used a boiled potato to wax a car.

The only one I would use is that Woolite: water solution

My wife and I were on vacation in Sedona, Arizona a few years ago and had a rental car, a white Dodge Avenger. We had gone out to dinner and when we came there was paint transfer on the rear bumper.. apparently someone had backed into the car and took off.



When we got back to the hotel, I took some toothpaste and a couple of wet facecloths and gently removed the paint transfer from the finish.
