UN vs. Souveran

But take a solid black car, with no other protectant, and add two coats of Souveran ... my guess that even UN will see a difference. UN may still prefer the Zaino look, but I suspect that he will see a difference between the Zaino look and the Souveran look. Just my speculation. :)

Al, unfortunately I did NOT take your advice, but I'm going to start a new thread on it and will supply the link. Hopefully you'll find it interesting.

Fuzion vs. Souveran vs. P21s on its way.

Am I mistaken in my belief that synthetic sealants, as a rule, do better on white paint than carnauba waxes? I am not surprised than Souveran did not add anything to Zaino. I would have been surprised if it had, even in UN's eyes. ;)

Well brother, as you know everybody has an opinion Director However, on white paint, I'm going synthetic sealant everytime. Having owned a white vehicle, its hard to get "pop" with this color, synthetic, in my tests, gives you the best chance and it holds the look. Z2 Pro, Blackfire, Ultima AND FK1000P I've used mostly on whites.

After viewing UN's avatar all I can say is, "Beavis, I've seen the mountains, and it is good" ....Butthead quote from the hair salon video.

Oh, and my wife's Highlander nothing but Dodo's Hard Candy wax has ever looked as good as BFWD, and HC is hard to apply, removal is tough since it dries white (SUV is white) and it lasts about 2 weeks.

I'm not sure I buy into waxes working better on different colors or not. On their website they say Souveran is best on black, red, and darker colors. Since I have only used in on my black Camry, I haven't seen Souveran on any other color.

It will be interesting to see if you think Souveran performs better on black or not.

Mike

I agree. Like Mike P has said many times....in most cases we are just waxing the clear coat. So if a wax makes a white car look good, then why shouldn't it look good on black, red or any other color for that matter?

Nice review UN. I just washed my car last night which had Souveran on it for about 2 months now....still beading.

Mikejl and Rasky,

I agree about the "wax for specific colors" bit. Mike Phillips use to say "if it looks good on black, it will look good on anything" and I kind of agree with that motto.

To be fair though (and maybe this is a criticism of myself) I can't remember ever seeing a wax I thought looked "bad".

I remember when I did my 9 wax test on MOL, I couldn't tell the difference between any of the waxes.

Some said I could not because I put too many waxes on one hood, but thereafter and in my own personal tests, I would test those same products on the entire car and could never see a difference.

Maybe one day I will be fortunate enough to see one of you pros work and finish two identical cars with different products so you can show me the difference.

I agree. Which is why I choose my LSP based on slickness and ease of use! ;0

In the few tests I've done on a black panel, I have found the only real difference in looks to be the amount of darkening each had...and this could only be seen when the sun was low in the sky. At mid day a difference could not be seen between the 6 waxes I tested, and that was with about 15 people looking at them.
