False teeth, on the console of a Honda . No jar, not wrapped in a bag etc. Just sitting there, looking at me. And smiling. :)

I used to work as a security guard while I was in college. A friend of mine was working when a older, but not too old gentleman went running out of the building to catch a bus. Something fell from around his head onto the floor. My friend yelled to him, but the guy just kept going. It turns out they were his teeth. The whole set. The guy never came back for them either. They were still sitting in the lost + found when I stopped working there.

Does it bother some of you to have cocaine dealers for clients? I'm not sure what I would do in those situations.

I'm glad this thread was started because I have been wondering:

1.) Do you ever worry about sticking your hand under a seat, in a side pocket, etc and getting stuck with a hypodermic needle?

With all the other drug related items people find, I wouldn't be surprised if some cars had these in them...

2.) If you have to clean up a particularly gross interior, do you charge extra?

3.) Do you advise your customers to go through their cars beforehand and remove things of "value?"

Good questions. I think that when people are at the stage of using needles for drugs, they are probably spending all their extra money for drugs so they are not likely to get the family wheels detailed. Fortunately most diseases do not live long outside the body but I would be extra careful if I saw evidence of I.V. drug use.

also I always make sure to LOOK with a flashlight before sticking my hand blindly anywhere in a vehicle, simply because you can be poked by seat frames/mechanisms under seats and such regardless of whether there's something else there or not.

Wouldn't have to be a needle used for heroin, etc. - could just be an insulin hypodermic needle. But still a good way to pick up hepatitis, or at least a nasty infection! I was thinking it would be a good idea to use a flashlight (like SLD said) and maybe wear some good gloves while cleaning under a seat, etc until you know what you're dealing with...!

In my own car, I removed the resonator box on the intake when I replaced it with an aftermarket cold air unit. Inside there was a dead bird. Don't ask me how it got in there.

It might be more hassle than what it's worth to you guys, but my brother is a cop. They also have to worry about sticking their hands in nasty places and getting poked or cut. There are special gloves out there that they use. They are thin like driving gloves but things like needles and knives won't go through them without some serious work.

Ask where he gets them. I could really use them for cleaning under the razor blade sharp front license plate frame on Cadillacs, and under the seats of Suburban/Tahoe/Yukons-lots of sharp edges there, too.

Check out this place

I got a pair of the Power Flex Plus Kevlar gloves for working out at the airport after having my hand cut open on a broken hinge on somebody's bag. It takes alot to cut these suckers open! Trust me, the shop I bought them from brought in two pairs, one for me and one to try to hack apart with my freshly shapened pocket knife.

I find alot of Marijuana Roaches, baggies, etc. in my wholesale detailing. Always worry about getting pulled and searched. Lots of times, I will dump all that out before I leave the dealer, just in case.

Yeah, old thread, but guess what I pulled out from under a front seat?

Looks like might have been torn off. I'd say it was a healthy size too! And I complain about the washer eating socks.

So far, Detailbarn is winning!

My story? I'm very married! I did a 'personal favor' detail for a girl that I know, professionally. Woulda been $225 - I charged her $100, and she knew that coming in. She's more than hot, but 20 years younger...

Pair of black thongs in glove box with a small card, smilie face, and 'Thanks Jim!'

:nono ;)

jimamary-I found a very tiny black lace thong in an SL500 that belongs to a customer's mother (I'd say she is around 60 so I highly doubt they belong to her) after he and his girlfriend went to the mother's house to pick up the car and bring it to his house, where I was going to detail it. His mom lives about 5 minutes away but the round trip took almost an hour.
