ultima + zaino?

hi im new here but i've been searching and reading up a lot about the ultima line and zaino line. I notice they both have a wipe on and walk away feature from the Z-CS and UPGP.

I also notice a lot of people are disappointed in how Z-CS performs.

I was looking to use some Z-AIO with some Z-CS and coat it with Z8 the following day, rather than Z-AIO followed by Z5 pro and Z8, since it is a lot easier. But since reading that Z-CS was a disappointment, i was wondering if i could use Z-AIO followed by UPGP and Z8?

Or should i just do Z-AIO, Z5Pro, Z8. Or should i just completely use the ultima line, UPP, UPGP? I've heard great things about the whole Z2, Z5 ZFX combo stuff but thats just too much work for me since i don't have a garage, and i only have a short amount of time of shade before it gets dark.

Anyways, can someone please recommend something for me for my black bmw. Thank you so much!

Either of the choices you list would be good. There are a large number of us who are pleased with Z-CS. I've used Z-AIO, followed by Z-2Pro with ZFX, Z-CS, and then next day topped with Z-8. My grand-daughter used at least 3x too much of my Z-CS on her car and it didn't give the same great results. She didn't read the directions. I'm sure that if she'd bought it with her money, it would have been applied much more meagerly. A very little Z-CS goes a very long way. Sal means it when he says less than 1/4 oz will do a whole car. More information about your car, the finish condition, and color would help all of us to offer more specific suggestions.

Good luch, and Merry Christmas

Just as HRP stated either combination will work great.I have never had any complaints about ZCS. I just tend to favor the optimum line better do to being a litte less work to get the look I like. But both lines are top notch.

HAPPY HOLIDAY's to all !!!!

You can buy several bottles of various Zaino products for the price of 1 bottle of Ultima. Zaino has built a reputation for outstanding durability. It really is a bargain product now.

The price comparison has already been done between the two products. It's pennies of difference per application. HOWEVER, you will save a TON of time with UPPP and PGP. Durability for me has been just fine from applications back in August.

Both lines are excellent and you will be happy with either line by itself; however, UPGP does have a longer durability and it is a lot easier to apply. I recently tried Z8 on top of 3 coats of UPGP, and the results were amazing. Z8 gave it a bit of a kick. In most cases CS will last longer than 3 months without a hiccup. You have only used UPGP for 3 months or so which leads me to infer that your application of CS did not make this point.:nixweiss Is this true?

Unusual situation but as we know durability is very environmentally dependent. My experience has been the opposite but both products made 3 months with no problem.

Z8:up

I would not hinge your decision on durability. UPGP lasted me about a month before I felt I needed to reapply. CS lasted about a month before I felt I needed to reapply.

If it were me, ZAIO-Z5/Z2-Z8. ZAIO and Z8 are outstanding products, they are the two products from the Zaino line that are unmatched IMO.

Are you doing this by hand or machine? ZAIO is by far my favorite by hand, its like silk to apply and remove.

Either product line will give you excellent results. If I was going to mix and match between the two, I'd use ZAIO + UPGP and then maintain with Z8.

I've got all three wipe on/walk away products (ZCS, UPGP and OS) on the hood of a BMW and at the three month point, all three still have decent slickness and beading. Since very few of us let our cars go even three months without at least using a QD a few times, I'd say all three provide more than adequate protection.

hey thank you all for the great input! For your information i would be doing this by hand and i have a sapphire black bmw and the paint is in moderate condition with minor swirls of course.

alright i think i'll go with some zaino to try out. Should i go AIO, Z5 Pro, CS, and then Z8 the following day? Or should i drop the CS and not use that? I read a lot of mixed reviews with the CS thats why and its making it hard to decide if i will be wasting my money on it. Some people say they can't tell the difference when they add CS on or if they use CS alone. They also say that it doesn't bead up as well even with a Z8 on top. Then theres others that say it last a long time with good beading and what not. So i don't know what to think.

anyways what applicators and MF towels would you guys recommend? SHould i use the zaino applicator or a foam?

thanks again

I used Ultima one time, about 2 months ago on a section of my hood, and it still looks good and is still very slick. Honestly, once I get caught up on my details and have some free time to play around, I plan on using it a bit more.

Compared to Z-CS, I don't know how it stands up because I rarely use Z-CS by itself. I think if you run the Zaino gauntlet (Z5, Z2, Z8) your results would be better then Ultima. But in that case, they should be as a return on the time you spent and work you put in. I wonder if Ultima is planning a more traditional type of product...

I have heard good and bad about both. If it was me I would stick with the Zaino and not mix brands. You should also try it yourself and make you own decision on what is good or bad.

Since you have swirls and are going with Zaino, you might wish to use Z-PC ( Z-PC Fusion Dual Action Paint Cleaner Swirl Remover). Many recommend Z-5 PRO over Z-2 PRO if you are applying to a dark car; vice versa on a light one. On my Black Beast, I use Z-5 followed by Z-2, Z-CS, and a day later, Z-8. Re: durability, I keep my cars garaged and water still beads beautifully on my DD's after a year+. Found this out because I had a heart attack and bypass surgery with some complications in Sept of 06 and didn't get to (wife wouldn't let me) maintain them for well over a year (3 cars: red, black, and silver). She did run the silver one through a laser carwash once during that time.

From my experience with Zaino, I would skip Clear Seal. In my opinion, its not going to improve the look once you apply Z5

It definitely does on my red Forumula on top of Z5 pro! You can really tell a difference in gloss and depth, and Z8 makes it look unreal.

Regarding beading, CS does not seem to hold up well in that respect out in the weather.

I used ZAIO topped with IW on my "beater", and I used CS on top of the IW on the trunk as an experiment. I topped all the surfaces with Z8 as well. After one month, the beading on the trunk is extremely weak already even after another coat of CS. The beading is great on all the other surfaces.

Same deal with my with my Grand Prix that is not garaged. Last month, I did ZAIO/ZFX'd Z5x3/Z8 on all surfaces except the trunk and rear bumper. I did ZAIO/CS/Z8 only on the trunk, and the bumper got the same treatment as the rest of the car except CS/Z8 as the final coat. The beading on the bumper and trunk is very weak already. However, the beading is not very good at all on the hood and top either. The previous coat of Zaino I did was still going strong after 5 months, but I just wanted to put another coat on for winter. I'm definitely not impressed with CS durability wise

I don't get it? Why the inconsistency? It's kind of aggravating when a product seems to lay down on you like that. Sal and his people are great, and Zaino looks stunning on all my vehicles. However,The mixed results have me debating switching to Ultima or maybe Collinite 476.

damn everyone has mixed reviews for the CS.. maybe i shouldn't have ordered it ...oh well

i guess i'll just try it out and see how it goes on my car. Thank you everyone for your input...if im not satisfied then next time i'll probably try ultima or whatever new that will come out.
