Ultima Interior Guard PROBLEM! Help Needed!!

Hi all - This past weekend i had used the Ultima Interior Guard on the interior of my TL-S (black interior). Everything looks and feels great on the leather and vinyl....EXCEPT for the dashboard vinyl, notably the passenger side.

I applied the product in the garage and let sit overnight as recommended. When I came out to the car in the morning, the dash looked very hazy and had some whiteness (streaks, patches) to it. This is the only spot in the interior where this happened. The vinyl everywhere else looks great. I had previously used the 303 aerospace protectant which worked well but after i had heard about Ultima products, thought i would give them a try (very pleased with the PG+ by the way).

Have I permanently damaged the vinyl here or simply put on too much product causing these effects? has anyone else seen something like thsi? What are your recommendations for correcting this? Is there a way to clean the dash again to remove the applied sealant?

Please help!

Thanks

I have used this product in multiple vehicles and thus on multiple dashes. I have yet to have any similar issues.

Is this a possible reaction with the 303? I have used both products myself and again have not not noticed any strange reactions.

I use the Ultima in multiple light coats. I apply it with foam very evenly with multiple light coats.

I wonder whether the Ultima isn't simply highlighting oxidization?

I would consider reapplying with a sponge in a very even manner. I work the product in thoroughly and then remove excess with a clean MF. I may do this as many as 3 or 4x.

Please keep us up to date, as your resolution should be interesting.

One more thing. Please give the good folks at Autopia a call and ask them for help. I expect you couldn't get any better advice.

That sucks. Try scrubing it with hot water and soap. Vinyl is hard to work with. It's not like paint where you can do corrections.

I had this same problem the first time I used it. It was because I used too much. Once I cleaned the dash and used it as directed, it wasn't a problem anymore. I like it the best out of all the interior protectants I have used. It seems to give the most natural appearance to me. I have found that I really have to have a lot of light, and a significant amount of that light needs to be at a sharp angle. Then I can look at an opposite angle as I apply to see that I'm applying the product. If I don't do this, it looks like it isn't being applied, and that is how I put too much on. It is a pain in the azz, that's for sure... but I like how it looks and it's been a month in the sun and still there doing its job. :-)
