Uh oh.. Too much soap!!

Looks like the brush and spotting from the soap also.You could try some vinegar maybe on some of the spots and see if they come off.I don't know how high the PH is on that soap but if it's dried soap the vinegar may work the same as removing hard water spots.

I've seen this also, especially on roofs of cars with oxidation on them or dried out paint. Seems like the paint sucks it up or the water immediatley dries up.
 
I'll try vinegar and I'm going to get a new mit or something to hand wash the car, but if it is the fact that the paint is dried out (I'm really really thinkin thats it based on what L33 just said), what is the best course of action to take?



Still go with the Meguiars NXT? Machine buff or hand buff?
 
had the bucket been used for anything else other than car washing ? left over dryed chemical in the bucket along with the dirty brush ?
 
I'm almost 99% sure its an oxidatioin thing, not improper use of products. You literally spray the car with a hose and seconds later it's dried up, am i correct z00mz00m?

bingo.. at least that's what it did the time i messed it up. since then i've waxed it numerous times, that has prevented it since then.





so we've solved the 'mistery'.. it is oxidation. still wondering why only those sections though lol.. but its not important. i'm pretty sure that is the culprit



how do i fix it????
 
ok, since no one told me how to fix my 'dry paint/oxidation" i went ahead and ordered some AIO and i'm planning on getting some meguiar's compound power cleaner. the AIO will go on second of course, and i'm going to do my whole car with it



also gettin a wool wash mit. how's this all sound to you all? will the compound power cleaner be abrasive enough to help me? is it too harsh?

Whoa there! Powercleaner is some really serious stuff thats recomended for rotary use only. If your planning on using a PC or hand with that you more likely to cause more dammage than you started with. AIO works awesome on oxidation, someone had some really good before and afters i think titled "Behold the power of AIO". For the sake of your paint dont use the powercleaner by hand, stick with the AIO it should remove your oxidation :D
 
wow, glad u stopped me :D that's good news though, didn't wanna spend 13$ on that stuff. i was just going by a thread i saw listing most abrasive meguiars products.. i didn't think anything would be so bad that it would tear up my paint

ok, after lookin at that thread and multiple other ones, i think AIO is just what the doctor prescribed. :)



also, i have a machine buffer.. but i have no idea what kind of buffer it is. apparently there are multiple types. mine is a big circular buffer w/ a 8" diameter pad

is that an orbital buffer? or what..
 
I'm afraid that may not work. That type of buffer does very little to correct paint. It does not spin fast enough to make a difference. I used to have a Craftman that was similar. Either order a Porter Cable RO or save your money until you can purchase one.
 
mmmmm well, i'm either doin this by hand or using a buffer similar to that one. mine may spin quick enough, its an older one my dad got to use on his old corvette.. probably like 7 years old or so.



maybe its faster than newer ones.. it shakes my hands pretty good when it spins, its not a completely circular stroke, it wobbles and stuff
