Two questions from a newbee....

So I'm looking to get my business up and running but haven't quite yet bought everything I need. I have a pressure washer and waterpump but I'm unsure how large a water tank I need (mobile busineess to START!). I'm trying not to use a trailer and figure that my Land Cruiser can haul around about 50 gallons of water (given the weight and available space). Can I even get one SUV done with 50 gallons. If I need to refill between jobs that okay. Here in VA you can rent a firehydrant key from the city.

Second question: Can the same results be had by polishing by hand. When you have that customer that says "don't even think about touching my ferrari with that buffer" are there producted out there that remove swirlmarks, scratches, inperfections.. just as well as by hand as machine. Obviously this takes a lot longer and = more money!

Oh well maybe one more quick Q, any recommendations on get off a large, been there for years, gas stain?

I know I'm new but if you don't know, you might as well ask! Thanks

I would really suggest getting a trailer. If you shop around, keep your ears/eyes pealed you can pick up something pretty basic and tow it behind your LC very easily. As a rough guesstimate I would say 50 gallons would get you through about five SUV's. Someone may beg to differ.

Just as well without a machine will take you twice as long and make you wish you had a machine. AFAIK the majority of effective use-by-hand products contain many filling "oils" the mask the imperfections rather than removing them. If someone doesn't want you touching thier Ferrari with a machine that you are trained to use and feel confident in doing so then you need to convince them otherwise or find another Ferrari. JMO! If you are serious about detailing for profit, learn at least one machine very well.
