Turned 14

This is, next to a red Porsche, the oldest car I have. I have been doing this car for 14 years, since day one!

It now is clicking close to 220,000k miles:shocked

It has had some paint work but it is at least 85% original. The owner is thinking about getting a new NSX but still going to keep this one.

I spruced it up a bit this afternoon and figured I would post some pics up, hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy caring for it, the last 14 years:D

Below is a picture of the new Optimum tire dressing.

It is a sprayable version of their tire gel, which is applied by way of an air compressor and spray gun. This tire dressing has a slight "gel" consistency to it but is also very sprayable. It has enough "gel" to it that it clings to the tire as it is sprayed. I allowed it to dwell while I polished the car out then went over it with a tire sponge.

So far I have not seen any sling from this product and on smoother tires it produces a nice wet look, a bit more sheen look on tires with more detail. Longevity is pretty good also. Dressed out a car with it last week and even after all our rains the tires of that car looked pretty good today when I washed it. So much so that I did not need to re-apply it.

Thanks,

Haha, that makes 2 things on this board my age.

But, NSX > Buick_Guy

;) Just kidding Steve.

Is the car completely stock? It looks so.

Anthony,

Do you mean 220,000 miles or 220,000 k (which would make it 220 million) miles ?

Great looking car :xyxthumbs Maybe after buying a new one the owner will give you this one ;)

Yeah it is completely stock, bumper to bumper.

kartoon -

No, not millions but rather thousands:D Could you imagine 220 million miles? Talk about intergalactic commuting:eek:

Hey I just realized I forgot to post what I used on it. Thanks for reminding me:up

Tires got Optimum tire dressing, as already noted.

It was polished with my Cyclo and Optimum polish, white pads, although a few spots needed buffing with orange pads and Optimum.

It then got ....(should I mention it?)....ShoKar treatment:argue

I spilled some of the ShoKar, what little I have left, so I can maybe do another 2 cars then it will be all gone:(

Thanks for the comments,

Anthony

"What is 15, Alex?"

Anthony- the Shokar out there is beginning to turn into a precious item. Too bad it didn't make it :(

Looks really good, Anthony. Those NSXs are absolutely beautiful! I've only done one the whole time I've been detailing...darn! I have a friend with one but he wants to make a trade (Alpine audio equipment) but he wants a years worth of details. I'll pass on that!

Anyway, nice work, the paint looks amazing for its age! I'm pretty sure I know why. ;)

Anthony- That has to be pretty cool, caring for a car that long. And it's great that the NSX gets so much regular use. I especially impressed by how undamaged the wheels look; must've had a lot of those crimp-on wheels weights over the years.

Very nice -thanks for sharing!

My neighbor runs the local Acura service shop, and I've been lucky enough to ride in a few. They have tremendous handling, not to mention plenty of pep.

220K well cared for miles !!! Testament to the owners care and your years of detailing her !!! Your fee is worth every dime !!! :)

Hello all,

Thanks for the comments and I'll try to reply to everyone here....

Yeah the ShoKar is a very nice product and it is truly a shame it can't be sold. I am being real stingy now on which cars I am going to use the last of it on:D

Thanks Scott..... I have done I think 2 others through the years but they were just a one time deal. This NSX has been just fantastic in the mechanical area, not sure if that is standard for the most part or just a fluke:nixweiss Great car though....and gorgeous lines.

Very nice Anthony. :bow

I hate to see all those inspection stickers on the front windshield though...

There are two stickers required in Texas, one is inspection the other registration. The other stickers are for his health club and I think one for a hospital parking area.

I hate them also because they take away from the look of the car, not to mention that the guys who remove them to replace with new ones hardly ever clean up the residue and just paste a new one on the old adhesive....yuck!

My Dream Car! I still want one BAD! Beautiful work. how good is the paint on those?

Paint is great on these cars. Very low orange peel with the paint more on the soft side. Fit and finish is great. The plastic black top always polishes out extremely well.

There are a few curb rashes but for being the original wheels, and with 220 thousand miles on them, they look great:xyxthumbs This is one car that was built RIGHT!

THe design of the NSX has really held up well over the years. That car still looks modern today.

I totally agree. People are shocked:shocked when they come over to admire the car and then learn it is 14 years old! It still turns heads as you drive it down the street.

Thanks again for the kind words regarding the work and I'll pass on to the cars owner everyones admiration of the car.
