Tundra, CL 3.0, Previa

Kind of boring this time, sorry. I don't always detail high dollar stuff. ;)

2001 Toyota Tundra. Should have had befores. Lots of mud in the fenderwells, probably hadn't been waxed ever, caked in bugs on the front. Definitely had my work cut out for me. Not to mention the time factor. "Pop quiz, Hotshot. You've got a Silverado SS and an Expidition to wash and also detail the Tundra. You have about 5 1/2 hours. What do you do? WHAT DO YOU DO?" ;)

This was at the customer's who wants me to wash everything conventionally. Luckily, he has a reverse osmosis/deionizer so I can let the vehicles air dry without worrying about spots. Washed all three-claying the Tundra as I washed it. I pulled all three inside and vacuumed them, dried the door jams, dressed the tires and fenderwells then started on the Tundra-had around 2 hours left. Cleaned the interior with my usual Woolite/water mix and dressed the vinyl with Armor All. Luckily, the interior was mostly just dusty and it went quickly. The exterior had some light scuffs and swirls and the paint wasn't all that hard. Optimum Polish with a white Lake Country polishing pad did a really good job, buffed off with Optimum Car Wax and topped with another coat of OCW. I had the exterior buffed and waxed twice in about 45 minutes. Stared on all three at 9:30 am and finished just before 3:00 pm. Snapped a few exterior shots then was on my way to detail an Acura CL at a nearby location.

There was some kind of weird film on the plastic on the bumper I couldn't remove-makes the dressing look uneven.

=============

Here are a couple shots of the X5 I did an exterior detail on a couple weeks ago. Just wanted to show how well Meguiars #38 Tire and Trim Gel holds up. This is after two weeks, two rains and just after the 2nd wash since application:

1997 Acura CL3.0. Been detailing this one about once a year since new but hadn't seen in in a couple years. Overall in excellent shape. Interior looks about as good as can be for a nearly 10 year old car. Exterior had light to moderate halo swirls. Started in with Optimum Polish/Compound mixed 50/50 using a white LC polishing pad and followed with Menzerna 106FF/Clearkote's Red Machine Glaze mixed 70/30 with a white LC polishing pad and buffed off with Optimum Car Wax. Took these two pics after the polishing process. Not sure why the first pic ended up so dark-partly cloudy day, getting close to dusk and under trees, I guess:

I then finished the car off with a hand application of Meguiars #16 Pro Paste Wax.

Tundra looks pretty good for the time you have in it. That film on the front bumper appears to be a poor attempt at dying at some point.

1997 Toyota Previa. Same owner as the Acura, next day though. Like the Acura, it was in overall excellent shape. Owner is retired, grown kids. The back of the van looked nearly new.

Had light to moderate swirls, paint was a touch harder than the Acura. I used Optimum Compound with a white LC polishing pad and buffed off with OCW. I topped with ValuGard (autoint) Finishing Wax. It is a bit thick like the original EX-P and the shine and wetness remind me very much of Meguiars #26. Seems to hold up very well too. Meguiars #38 on the plastic trim along the bottom of the van

Interior was cleaned with Woolite/water and vinyl dressed with Meguiars Interior QD and leather with Turtle Wax's Leather Conditioner. Note the conditon of the 9-year-old leather!

That white depth makes my eyes go

SO amazing. I never considered RMG on white. Now I know what I am going to do to my in-laws car in a couple of weeks. Thanks!

Is OCW your go-to now? i just ordered a bottle of it yesterday. thought it might be good for ligher colored and brighter colored cars.

Scott:

You always amaze no matter what car you work own. Just and an FYI... You got me hooked on the RMG and followed it up with CMW and my neighbor came over and asked me to borrow both bottles. He used it on his 01 SL500 (black) and he is placing his order this week. Thanks for making me aware of those products

I've been using OCW to buff off polishes and as a base mostly for carnaubas. Looks really good on all colors. Nice balance between the depth of carnaubas and the mirror reflections of sealants.

I was blown away when I saw how well it turned out. Looks even better in person. Glad RAG mentioned the Menzerna/RMG combo he made otherwise I probably would never have thought of it. I've also had really good results with VM or RMG topped with #16 and CMW on white, really wet and more depth than you'd think with white paint. :)

Mike-what is the heat gun method?

Excellent work Scott!

I will be giving the 106ff/RGM a try on the beater soon. Do you think following with CJ will work on white?

Should work just fine. If you have any OCW, buff off the 106/RMG with it, CJ glides on over OCW really nicely.

scottwax is the the Tundra you were refering too in your post over at my thread My Toy. If so, it turned out great for the amount of time spent on it.

Oh boy........Some OCW too? :bigups

I used Optimum polished removed with OCW and topped with CJ on a black 740, turned out just unreal!

xtremeclean-yep, that is the same Tundra. My customer said his brother-in-law was very happy how well it turned out...double for me, I was really pleased how nice it looked for a 3 hour detail. Probably couldn't have done it without OCW. Real time saver and it looks terrific. :)
