trying it again?

Hey all, I have the same old question for you.

I am looking for some descent pads for my pc w/6" plate. When I purchased the pc about 3 or 4 years ago, I bought a kit from lake country for the pads. I did 2 vehicles, which turned out great, but the velcro pealed off the back of all the pads. Well, after spending $25 per vehicle on pads, the pc went on the shelf never to be seen again.

Anyway, I am wondering if it was me or was it the pads? I would like to pull out the pc and give it a try again, but I can't afford to go through pads like candy. I was going to buy some of the propel p2 pads, but it seems like they aren't making them anymore?

SO, long story longer, where should I buy some pads? I would like a kit with just the pads, no backing plate. Thanks for any tips.

Propel 2 are discontinued? Perhaps Patrick can answer that one, I still see them on his site.

I'm a bit surprised that the LC pads you used had the velcro seperate, but anything is possible. Did you seal them in plastic ziplocks, or were they kept in a sealed container?

I've had nothing but positive experiences with Propel Pads, they are priced right, and perform quite well. *I* prefer the P2's (over the P1's) but I have yet to try the Erasures.

One product that I really like for cleaning pads is Detailer's Pride Pad Rejuvenator found here: http://autogeek.net/dp730.html

when I go to excel detail site they only have 3 propel p2 pads listed that I can find. And they are listed under Propel Polishing Pad Clearance! I will check that page out you have linked, thanks

Have you considered Edge 2000 pads? They don't use any velcro. They're more expensive than regular pads, but they're two sided so it's like getting two pads in one. They should also last twice as long. There's quite a few advantages these pads offer over velcro pads. You can check them out in further detail at Edgepads.com.

Here's the kit I bought . . .

The Edge Dual Action 6 Inch Kit includes The Edge 2000 DuraFoam Pads & a dual action Edge Adapter. edge foam pads, double side pads, polishing pads

This week you can get 20% off the kit if you use the coupon code scrolling across the top of the screen which makes it an even better deal. The pad cleaner that comes in the kit works really well too.

Hmmm..I guess Patrick might be switching over to the erasure pads. Its a shame, I REALLY like the Green P2 pad....

I'm a noob so don't shoot me! But... From what I've heard one reason for the velcro backing to be coming off is too much heat. I've read not to use the pc on speed 6 for too long as it will create too much heat. Just a thought. Not sure what speed your using.

The only times I have had problems with the backing on a pad is because of improper washing technique (i.e. washer/dryer)....that was a long time ago. Now I was them in the bucket with the Rejuvinator and allow them to dry. I used to use the Edge pads but I just recently purchased the LC pads (which came as Wolfgang Concours) and they work well and seem to be of good quality.

Thanks for all the ideas. I ended up going with the 7.5" LC pads from Danase. I used the "create your own 6 pack" I will try them again, and see if they will last any longer.

I checked out the edge 2000 ones, but I have this gut feeling I would press too hard and the center section would hit the vehicle. Does seem like a good idea though.
