True state of affairs at Meguiar's?

It can take up to 5 to 6 weeks to ship from China to here using the least expensive ocean ship method and depending on point of entry. Also, note that China shuts down for at least two weeks in late Jan / Feb for Chinese New Year so anything in transit can get delayed as well.

If you have ever run a manufacturing business, parts shortages including unexpected quality issues are part of the life plus dealing with a contract manufacturer in China.

As said above, you add Meguiars distribution system in to the formula, it can greatly extend things. Meg's likely sells to distributors who then sell to people like ADS but I do not know Meg's details. Also, we do not know if the use first in / first out, etc.

All good points, Al.

On a side note I foward this link to Jason's personal email asking him to chime in. Hopefully he does. Jason thanks in advance for your support on Autopia.org

I did get a reply from Jason the other day, he was in Korea waiting to fly to China. So it might be a few days before we hear from him.

Well there's our answer.... Jason is opening a can of whoop-@** on the supplier as we speak! :soscared: :har:

Just kidding, of course.

All I can add, is their inventory control sucks as well as most all of their products :chuckle:

I've been banned 3 times, sent a few warnings, and recieved threatening personal hate mail over expressing my opinion on the state of Meguiars. All this tells me, is that I must be digging close to where the bodies are located

Or perhaps it should tell you that it would be better not to continuously stir up drama (even if it's not your direct intent) and focus on what you DO like instead of what you don't like. It took me a while to figure that out but I feel I'm far more productive by being that way.

To me the biggest insult you can give someone is to not mention them. That hurts far more than making sure their name is out there even if it is in a bad light because if nobody mentions a product when someone asks for a recommendation, eventually people won't remember it even exists.

For the record, I don't agree with your sentiment that most Meguiar's products suck, as I've experienced quite the opposite.

I think the consumer line, is just that, geared toward the consumer who just doesn't want a dirty car. We're all Autopians here, and we have the most discerning standards in the world. I've seen concours-prepped vehicles that would be considered sub-Autopian so when a product doesn't give instant, perfect gratification, it can be easily scrutinized by us. On the other hand, there's gotta be a reason why I see the M105/M205 duo mentioned every day. Meg's is ( and has been) doing something right. I don't think the ultimate Autopia product arsenal ought to contain all, or even a whole lot of Meg's products, but they're just like any other brand's line. Discover the ones that are best for you from each and add to your stash.

Are you trying for a new record, is that your purpose for posting this?

Uh oh. I must've missed something in here

(yeah, that video link was solely for Flash's benefit) :nono:

Wow....you guys and your drama. We are car detailers (at least some of us). We clean and polish cars, not perform brain surgery. If you come on here and post that meguiar's products suck, it seems to me that you have to be a "keyboard detailer" (in other words you just hover around the forums, and don't actually detail anything to speak of) versus actually working on cars. Makes me wonder what some of your real agendas are. It is easy to hide behind the anonymity of an internet forum screen name and trash others.

Agreed. I've never understood the Meguiars hate on some forums. While not every single product of theirs is the absolute best in the respective category, they do tend to be near the top and give great value for the money. Just because they don't have a fancy boutique name and are a corporation doesn't mean they don't have a terrific product line.

Amen. :spot

OK, I may have over reacted at saying most of Meguiars products suck. Let me rephrase this. IMO Meguiars is a one hit wonder (105) the rest of their line only performs mediocore at best. There is nothing in their line that impresses me enough to pay double for what I can get here locally that will perform the same, if not better

If you will research my post history, you will see where I've recommended Meguiars over any other manufacture. I just personally feel Meguiars is going down the tubes. If your opinion differs, so be it. I don't really care what you think

Furthermore, I just can't get with a company thats had as many recent failures as they have. You can ride the Titantic if you wish :yo:

1) DA on backorder for almost a year

2) Trigger sprayers that are known to be defective being released to their consumers

3) DA MF System that took 12 years to devolope/mimmick a pad that was already on the market, yet failed at exceeding

4) Running out of said pads and taking over a month to deliever

5) And now several reports of these very pads flying apart midway through a detail

Good day,

Flash :rapture:

PS...Oh yea, as far as me not posting pictures...what is the point is my question. To me the only reason I see to post pictures is if your looking for work, or you need an ego boost. I am in need of neither

IMO you just proved my point with your one hit wonder comment. I believe you probably don't work on very many cars. If you did, you would have run into several where only a non diminishing abrasive would finish down flawlessly on the paint. I can think of several where only 205 or 86 would work.

Conversely, I can think of some cars where meguiars polishes wouldn't finish down well. My point is that if you work on very many cars, you will find that there is a need to carry several different brands and styles of polishes and pads, as you never know what will work on a certain car.

Uhhh, so your point is you agree with me?

Thanks :yo:

You've neglected to factor in the potential that operator error is to blame for these issues.

In a lot of ways I can understand this viewpoint, but at the same time pictures can prove immensely useful in helping to educate others when it comes to the proper way to do various tasks.

That said, I'm getting perilously close to deleting this thread; I never intended for it to become a bash-fest against Meguiars, other product manufacturers, other members, etc. and I don't like what I'm seeing. Let's cut the crap guys or this thread will be toast.
