True Glaze

I was told by a local guy that Purple Power is the best cleaner to use on a spill. Haven't personally tried it but you can. I normally use WD-40 or paint thinner and a power washer.

When I had an exhaust rub a hole into an oil pan, and let all 5 quarts loose onto a garage floor, I did kitty litter (over and over) and got some stuff from Costco called Oil Eater. It did a pretty good job and wasn't too expensive either.

Purple Power is my #1 APC. And your guy is correct. If I have an oil spill, I use Purple Power liberally, let it soak about 15 minutes. Then sprinkle with cat litter and GRIND it into the stain with my feet until it turns to powder... Let it sit for an hour or so... sweep it up and it's gone.

BTW.....this thread is almost EIGHT-years old!!!!! :goodjob:grinno::grinno::grinno: I'll bet that black oil stain has worn off by now!:LOLOL:LOLOL

just a F.Y.I.

Oil Eater is just Kitty Litter with no scent

How about old stains, like over a year? I tried kitty littler, purple power, and muriatic acid. The latter nicely whitened the concrete around the stain  so now it looks like a black and white rainbor on my driveway.

Someone in Grassroots Motorsports magazine suggested oven cleaner to clean the toughest driveway stains. I have not personally tried this...yet. Usually the cat litter does the job for me.

1. get the freak to park in the street.

2. kindly ask him to fix your driveway for you and offer him an electric toothbrush and 'whitening toothpaste' to fix it with (just j/king :))

Or you can consider getting an industrial concrete cleaner to grind/clean your concrete, and then apply one of the concrete finishes recommended for the floors of auto workshops. Seriously, this is the route that I'm going to take to lean and fix forever my garage floor. I just wish the cheap ******* that I bought my house from had sealed the garage floor before he parked the Exxon Valdez in it.

Cheers,

After owning 2 Range Rovers (before BMW bought them) and servicing most of the Land Rovers in my club, I will say that NOTHING worked faster on new or old stains than brake cleaner. Literally spray and wipe.

Still my go to.

Help me out here guys...... True glazes have no cut / abrasives, right? At least that is what I thought. Now I know a lot of products say they are glazes when in fact they are polishes........ meaning; they may not have much but they do have some abrasives..... So with all that said.... which products out there are True glazes.... any other info on this matter would be appreciated.... and of course opinions are more than welcom

Thanks much..

Welcome to TID!

My understanding is that traditional glazes are used to put a really nice shine on your vehicle right before the big car show!

They have oils and fillers which hide defects in the paint, but they have no polishing or cutting characteristics. (Again, I'm talking about traditional glazes with no polish in them.)

They also don't last past the first or second washing.

But they will definitely make your car pop for the short duration!!!

Most Glazes out there have some type of polish in them and it's getting very hard to find one that's pure. Our Menzerna Finishing Touch Glaze is what your looking your looking for , but I think your too late because of the Menzerna close out my second choice will be Meguiar's No 7 Show Car Glaze it's a pure polish type, but it is designed to enhance your paint gloss of your vehicle. If your car is new then go with Meg's No 7 Show Car Glaze and follow with Blackfire Wet Diamond or Blackfire Midnight Sun paste wax. If your car is a little more older and starting to show some minor swirls use Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish first, then follow up with No 7 Show Car Glaze and then finish with Blackfire Wet Diamond or Blackfire Midnight Sun Paste Wax.......:wizard:
