Truck or Van?

Im wondering if I should keep my truck and buy a trailer or sell it and get a van. I have a F250 now and was looking into the Chevy Express or a Ford Transit. I owe 3k on my truck and KBB says its worth 15k. I was also wondering if I trade in my truck for something worth less will I be able to get the difference back? So what do you guys think? Should I keep the truck or get a van?

My customer has one of these and hes a handyman . Its awesome and he loves it ! Plus you can stand up in it .

great thing about vans, is when they have sliding doors on both sides it makes everything very assessable.

Very true. I love the transit van as well. Plus I could lock my things inside of it instead of having a long trailer.

I had a Truck pulling a 6x12 trailer. it was fine but It got to where some areas that I was getting my self into, was really difficult to turn around or get out of with a trailer. Also for my case the trailer would bog down my MPG's on my V6 Ridgeline. not the case for your F-250. pulling the trailer on the interstate with my Honda Ridgeline I would get 10mpgs.
That is when I switched to my AWESOME Van! It was the best move that I have made for my business.
I get about 18-19mpg's on long trips. and When I need to, on long trips, I have plenty of room to put my blow up mattress and sleep back there.
So my vote from having both is the VAN, the Chevy express van to be exact.
the Ford van(E-Series not transit) looks more like a pedophiles van.

Your the reason im asking this question. Lol I was hoping you would put your 2? in. When I saw how well the van was wrapped I started think about getting a van. Plus I would have to buy a trailer. Thanks for the advice. Ill look into it. May ask how much you paid for your van and also the wrap?

I am sure with the proper wrap it would not look as European. It looks very functional.
It looks like it is a 4 cyl so it cannot haul a lot of heavy stuff.

I am curious how much gas cost you estimate you use per detail compare to other fixed expenses (detailing supplies, wear and tear on polishers, etc).

Sorry for the confusion. I was talking about the big E-series van. Not the transit. I'm sure the transit would be way better at gas then both of the big vans. But I can't see my self pulling up in a little whimpy transit either. But that is just me.

Each trip is different. I can go any where from 10 miles to 600 miles away. But regardless how long the trip is, the entire travel and lodging fee is paid for by the customer. So the only overhead I have is my van and supplies.

The transit connect is weak on power but a very clean and useful tool as a mobile platform, my Tacoma X-Runner has been great and I have a Leer shell with side compartments and pull out bed as I do not want to smell solvents and chemicals as you do with a van.

I love my 05 GMC Sierra. Its got the bigger V8, about 300hp, and I'll still pull 22-23 mpg with it. The Line-X bed liner and the ReTrax cover makes packing up easy and keeps it locked away safe while still having a view out the back.
Super comfortable interior! Nice place to be on long drives.
I've been VERY happy with the purchase. Got a great price on it and its fun to drive. There have been times where I wanted a van, but I love the truck too much. It would be hard to give up some of the styling, power, AND fuel economy by getting a van. Maybe one day that will be different, but for now I'm happy with the truck.

Thanks Bob. Only badges (besides front grill) are the GMC and Sierra badge on the tailgate. I like the clean sides, but I dunno about taking the two off the tailgate...everyone says it'll look better but i dunno..
Bob, I'd love to see some pics of the pullout bed and some info on that!

With so many Vans and trucks on the market, look around for a great deal. I would be looking in to a Van because if one doesn't have a secure place to park a truck with a trailer. ( too many trailers in the bay area get stolen ).

I really like the ford transit. if I were go into business full-time, that will be my rag.
- good gas milage
- handles good
- looks cool IMO
- Standing inside of it
- can be fitted into a camper if you like
- tons of space to advertise
- the back doors folds all the way
