Tried my AutoGlym, and some other ramblings

Well, it's not very similar to my EGP. It doesn't smell all chemically like it (though the shampoo certainly doesn't smell good), and it seems much browner. The EGP is just faintly brown. I'll see what DavidB's got to say, maybe we just get some different coloring here in the states. :nixweiss

I have a feeling the smell of this stuff isn't one that anyone would describe as "pleasant". It's not like a fragrance that I just don't find appealing, it's a smell that isn't a good one... Fortunately it's pretty mild.

I must admit, I don't find it especially appealing, but it's not unpleasant...like something gone bad. I'd describe it as smelling a little like Windex and soap.

Sorry it took me so long to reply to this... I wanted to get feedback from Autoglym.

As I thought, the AG Bodywork Shampoo contains the same basic polymer chemicals as SRP. This accounts for both the fragrance (which they don't try to mask) and the flat nature of the wash water. AG claims that they also include "ionic agents" that aid electro-molecular attraction so the protectant in the shampoo will displace water and attach to the paint.

I think it is unfortunate that "protective shampoos" like AG are not more popular than they are. It took me a while to get used to using flat wash water, but I can't argue with the results. I wax far less often, and yet my car looks great.

Any downsides to using a "protective wash" to a vehicle applied with a carnauba wax such as Souveran?

One question regarding EGP, does it have to be used with SRP to bond properly? I have been using EGP over 1Z polishes without SRP and so far so good but I don't know if it will last. What do you think?

The formula changed and we still have the older stock in the States.

Well it's certainly taking a long time for you guys to get the new formula... it's been green in the UK for more years than I care to remember!

apart from the usual 'for best results...' marketing yada, there is no specific mention on the AG product labelling of a chemical bond between the two products, so I'd say that it should be OK to use SRP/EGP in combination with other products.

Although I have not used the shampoo in a while, I did not have any problems when using Blitz.

D3mon, my understanding from AG is that SRP & EG are designed to work together but I would not discount experimentation with other products.
