Tried many tire dressings....not happy...

I've tried so many tire dressings, and been dissapointed with all to some extent.



They sling, remain wet, get gummy, disappear, evaporate, dry-out, puddle, overspray, run, and attract dirt.



Well that's a pretty comprehensive list.



I just want to find one that gives me a nice semi-gloss to gloss shine, that is fairly dry to the touch, and the shine lasts for a week.



Is this too much to ask????



Here are the failures:



1. Eagle One Wet - slings horribly

2. a Walmart brand (can't rem name) - slings

3. Meg's Endurance - gets gummy & sticky

4. Hi-Temp Grape - dries flat black

5. Meg's Hot Shine - one of the worst - gone in 12 hours

6. Looks Wet, No Mess - evaporated after 1 day

7. Turtle Wax Tire Gel - lasted 1 day

8. Stoners Tire Shine - overspray & evaporated after 1 day

9. Wet 'n' Black - worst slinger

10. Son of a Gun Tire foam - messy and gone after 2 days.



Limited success with these products:



1. Zaino Perfect Tire Shine - Probably best of group, but gone after 5 days

2. Armor All Tire Foam - Lasts 6-7 days, but is a little messy on application. But not bad. (no sling after drying for 1 hour)



Haven't tried Einmann-Fabrik, Forever Black or Griot's





Anything last a week with near-full gloss?
 
i use the eimann fabrik black sapphire tire gel and i find it gives the tire the perfect look for me, its kind of a semi gloss satin finish if it makes any sense lol. It dosent sling if you let it sit for a bit and dries pretty quick, lasts about 2 weeks for me ( 2 washes). I give it a :up
 
Can you clarify "gumy and sticky" regarding Endurance? I have also tried lots of tire dressings and found it to work the best for me. It is messy to put on but, I have found that it lasts at least a couple of weeks. I use the original formula that is more of a satin finish but, the high gloss version is basically the same. I usually apply it pretty heavily, let it sit for a bit and then just wipe off the excess.

Even after a few days, it still seems to be "wet". The reason it gets gummy is probably dirt sticking to it.



I ususlly don't wipe off the excess, do you think this is my problem?
 
I use Endurance too and yes it will sling especially if you do not wipe off the excess. What I usually do is apply it with the yellow and grey sponge applicators and then wipe it after a few minutes with a rag or a non-lint towel.

Most of all of the other tire dressing I have use turn my tires brown after it wears off and I hate that ,

Hey Hey my first post , I've read this forum for over two years and tend to read only .
 
I have always wiped down all tires products.



I use two products, apply 303, wait,wipe down, apply Endurance, wait wipe down.



I used Turtle Wax as well.



I have had good results.

I have noticed what you are talking about if you don't. Treat it kind of like a wax, apply it and let it sit for a while and then wipe it off. I usually let it soak into the tires for a about 30 minutes and then wipe off the excess.
 
The only product I have liked is made by Dr Wack (the orginator of P21S) but it is in an aerosol which generaly speaking I dont like and find them poor value for money.



Most of the time I do not apply any dressing. I find the scrubed natural look to my taste.
 
I have recently been using Vinlyex, and find it works quite well. The shine won't quite last a week, but the tires stay black. I haven't had my tires turn brown with this stuff since I started using it three months ago. Once dry, it doesn't seem to attract dust/dirt. I'll see if I can dig up some pics and post them later.
 
I second Vinylex, it gives a nice satin finish and it doesn't attract as much dirt and brake dust like the heavier gels. Black magic is the worst, it slings and horrible build-up, it was a PITA to remove the silicone off my TTs body panels.
 
I think 303 is your answer being you want a semi gloss rather than a slightly shinier gloss that Vinylex prvides. 303 most definitely lasts at least 1 week and does not attract dust, also, form all I have read about it is THE safest dressing for your dash and rubber.



I was recently told applying other products on top of 303, especially solvent based ones, would just dissolve the 303 underneth making it pointless to first apply the 303;so I'm going to refrain from that.



I like a "medium gloss" so I'll continue using 303 but if I have the opportunity to get a hold of a large jug of Vinylex I will take it mostly because Vinylex is a bit more economical than the large jug of 303
 
You want gloss? Don't use Vinylex or 303.



Use "No Touch" that comes in the purple can (not the original).



At Costco, it is $7 for a 3 pack!



It is shiny, uniform and long lasting.



I noticed it wasn't on your list.



I use it all the time.
 
Huh, there is no gloss on my dash with Vinylex, I think it depends on the materials too, on the tires it's just a nice satin new tire look.
 
When I switched from Vinylex to 303 , the 303 made the Vinylex look glossy especially on tires, thats how matte the 303 is. But I've found with layering both products you can increase the shine a bit.
 
I gotta say pinnacles black onyx tire works extremely well for me and it lasts for a long time (2 weeks average) depending on the weather.
 
Mr. Luster, you may want to try 3M's Rubber Treatment & Tire Dressing. It's my personal favorite and haven't found another tire dressing that offers the natural look provided by this product. It's great stuff. Now, if your looking for glossy or semi-glossy, it may not be what you seek. It does leave a beautiful natural looking quality that makes the tire appear fresh just like the day you bought it. It will easily meet your durability requirement. i re-apply the stuff on every other wash cycle...if needed.



The product is exceptional when you have soft rubberized black trim on the exterior of the car...it doesn't run when it gets rained on and I apply it 2X per year.



Great product, a bit pricey but I have found nothing else quite as nice.

I'm getting lots of good feedback and I'm planning to experiment with several of the suggested products.



My problem is that having a perfectly detailed awesome car with "average" looking tires, is the equivalent to wearing a tux to a wedding and wearing scuffed shoes.....



THEY HAVE TO BE PERFECT PATENT LEATHER as the icing on the cake!
