I've got about 8-9 inches of loose weatherstripping inside the door frame and am wondering what is the best adhesive to reattach the rubber to the metal flange? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
 
3m black weatherstrip adhesive. You can find it at Pep Boys for about 7 bucks. You should however try to clean off the old weatherstripping. How to do that is bit of work. Just be careful not to strip paint.

Brad's right. I have used the 3m adhesive on the weatherstripping at the bottom of the sliding door on my brother in-law's mini van. It gets a lot of abuse as folks drag their feet along the weatherstripping as they exit the van. It has adhered remarkably well. HOWEVER, you must clean off the old adhesive and dirt, etc. before you apply the new glue. If it isn't clean, the stuff won't stick. Make sure that you position the weatherstrip correctly as it may have stretched. I would advise that you run strips of masking tape over the weatherstripping every few inches, attaching the tape to the window frame and the weatherstripping in order to keep it from sagging or shifting while the adhesive dries.
 
Yes, this Yukon Denali was truly TRASHED!!!! :scared: I should ask these women how many kids and dogs they have!!!!!

Looked like it had never been washed or vac'd.

No paint correction (Are you kidding? She didn't even want me to wash it!!! Like most women, she just wanted the interior cleaned.:cursing:[typical])I convinced her to have it cleaned and waxed as well.

PROCESS:

Washed with Meg's Gold Class Car Wash
Vac'd interior
Shampoo'd carpets with Resolve Carpet Foam, carpet brush, rinsed with damp towel
Cleaned vinyl/plastic with 1-part Purple Power to 5-parts warm water in a bucket
Rinsed with clear water
Dressed vinyl/plastic with Chem Guys VRP
Cleaned leather with Lexol Leather Cleaner
Conditioned leather with Z-26 (Z10 + Z16!)
Leaned inside glass with Sprayway Glass Cleaner
Zaino claybar
Removed tar with Stoner Tarminator
Blackfire Wet Diamond X2 by PC 7424, LC Black 5.5
Cleaned tires with Meg's APC+ and scrub brush
Cleaned wheels with Meg's APC+, then Mothers Chrome Polish, then Zaino Clearseal
Cleaned wheelwells with leftover car wash soap and long handle brush
Dressed wheelwells with Huey Chemical "Black Well" dressing
Dressed Tires with Z16 (they're still a little wet in the pics)

11.5 hours [Tired.]:yawn:

No Polishing = No Sun Shots!

BEFORE: (When she pulled into my driveway, I thought these wheels were painted silver... They're chrome! You'll see them in the AFTER shots.

Holy cow, that was disgusting! Good thing you aren't charging a flat rate, wow. Good work and excellent turnaround on that interior, yikes! :hurray:

I charge $40 per hour, so $460, normally. But I gave her a discount because she's a friend, I charged her $375 and she gave me a $25 tip.

Carpet stripes... After I cleaned the carpets with Resolve Carpet Foam, I rinsed with a damp towel. Then I brushed all the carpet in one direction with a carpet brush. Then pulled the carpet brush toward me in lines to make the stripes. It works best if the carpet is damp. I'll get a "wow" from most people on this!

Wow. Hopefully one day I will be able to command those higher prices. For something like that I would usually charge bewtween $200-$250.

When I started doing this MANY years ago, I charged 10 bucks an hour. I've gradually raised my prices as years went on.

Still, everyone says I'm "cheap"! This lady got a quote from a local detail shop - $750!!!!! (That's over $75 per hour!):banghead:

I wouldn't have the nads to ask those kinds of prices!!!!!

nice job Bill. Are they living in that thing? What is it with women and not wanting the outside cleaned? I dont get it. Sometimes I would like to charge more if they dont want the exterior cleaned because I hate interiors.

I DON'T HAVE A CLUE! But about 50% of all the women's cars I do, they don't care anything about the outside of the car! Wierd.:banghead::mad:

Yeah, I hate 'em too. But I'd almost rather do a large vehicle that I can move around in, than a small coupe or sedan that's trashed. (I'm a rather large 6'4" and 290!) Now that's a sight to see!!!:w00t:
 
Great job Bill! That vehicle is pretty representative of most I end up doing. It really is amazing how far they let it go before deciding to clean it. I always try to tell these folks it's much easier and cheaper to maintain than restore. Not sure it sinks in, but I try.

The hardest part is watching it drive off knowing it will remain in that pristine state for about an hour.
 
Beautiful work, William! Tell her it was cheaper to just go out and replace that vehicle with a new one! She won't even know the difference.

I just bought 2 cases of Sprayway from Home Depot online. $55 shipped! I love that stuff. 24 cans at 2.30 a piece!

Haha... LOL... I know. You'll love this! When she left the vehicle with me she said: I've been meaning to have this done for about 2 years!!!:banghead::rofl:
