Transtar polishes... Has anyone used them?

I happened to run into an auto paint store just by accident (Metro Detroit, MI. USA) My idea was to get some 3M Machine Glaze polish (05937) or maybe Meguiars #80 because of all the good comments about them here in the forums. Well, this place didn't carry Meguiars products, and they only had the 3M rubbing compound. However, they had polishes from a brand called "TRANSTAR". They had 3 products that seemed to cover the full spectrum, from very aggresive to mild.

I want to include more description for reference

1) Aggressive - Plus Kut Compound, #5314, rated at 1000 grit with a rotary

2) Medium - Tri Cut compound, #5334. Seems to be very versatile depending on pad type and rotary speed as they rate it from 1200 grit (wool & 2000 rpm) down all the way to almost 2000 grit (soft foam and 1000 rpm)

3) Mild - Final Finish, #5354, rated at 2000 grit, to be applied my machine of hand.

The dealer seems to be a preferred distributor, as the sales team were enthusiastic about the products and mentioned that shops who have bought the products before rate them as very good, and buy them again. The price was a huge motivation factor, as they seem to be quite cheaper than the comparable 3M polish. I decided to pass and ask the experts here first. You don't want a newbie busting his paint with unknown products, Do you? :D

Has anyone used them or least heard of them? Should I go ahead and get them? Both of them can applied by hand, so that usually means orbital is OK.

Suggestions accepted.

I am surprised no one was able to comment.... These product should be made by a really small company I guess..... ;)

I decided that I will go ahead and buy the final finish and the tri cut compound. Now, I just need a test car that is not mine ;) While I don't have a PC yet, I already bought a Chicago electric rotary......

Well, I bought the products. Very very cheap in price as I mentioned, and they are quite big bottles (9/10 of a liter = 1 US quart)

Upon further inspection, they seem to be your average car polish. Chemical smell for sure, but nothing too harsh. Milder in smell than NuFinish, for those of you who have used NuF.

The Tri-Cut is white, not very thick (like a liquid wax). The Final Finish is gray, and same consistency. I just diped a fingertip into the bottle to get a drop and applied each of them with my finger into a clean section of the car I am driving. They go a long way, as I almost covered a 15 x 15 cm with just my finger and a little drop. I rubbed with my finger only. After cleaning the swirl marks are still there. I am sure I needed to work them more.

I'll report when I try them the proper way.

Transtar also makes automotive paints and clears, like ppg, dupont, basf. IMO they are just average products.

Thanks for the comment. I noticed that they make also automotive paints and related stuff. You mentioned them as just average (I don't know if that refers to their paints or also the polishes) If that applies to the polishes, how would you rate them compared to 3M, Meguiars or Poorboys SSR?

Ive used their paints and clears doing cars and tried their compounds. Id say the their real close to 3-m in quality. Lets put it this way, Ive used better, and Ive used worse.
