Toyota Avalon topped with new Reflections Wax

Ahhhhh modesty from Silver Lexus, gotta love it. Low rez camera can't pick up metallic paint! Well then that paint must be pretty amazing if you can't capture it with this camera. Looks pretty good to me!:D

You must pardon the question for I'm not to framiliar with the new Mother's line. But that is not the Spray Wax correct, or is it? Have you tried OCW, if so what if any comparison can you give?

Overall very nice job Silver!:xyxthumbs

Carsfreak: I have the same experience as you, I tried it because several posters on here use it on theirs and their customers cars. I really like the look, but after a day or two theres no sheen, just flat black.

The detailer's advantage on the other hand, leaves a very shiny look (maybe I applied too much?) and seems to last awhile, but its so messy and just ughhhh

Looks really good. :up

I'm interested in hearing about the durability of Reflections.

I'm interested as well, because I've gotten somewhat poor results. Sorry no pics - but I'll give a brief run-down of my experience.

Product List:

AIO

Reflections Wax

Reflections Spray Wax

Reflections Top Coat (24 hrs later)

The Wax is pretty good appearance-wise, it had a unique look to it, but was noticably clear and reflective. It felt slick, but nothing all too impressive. Next day, I put on Top Coat which somewhat improved the look of the car by giving it a wet look, feel didn't change noticably. Day after, I took the car out, and it rained all day. As much as I didn't like spending an entire day detailing, only to have the car get dirty within minutes of it leaving the garage... it served a good purpose. Overall, the surface of the car seemed to attract dirt and hold on to it, though even with the dirt, there was still a glow to the paint underneath. So a few days later I had a chance to wash the car... which was easily not a fun experience. Spraying the car down did nothing to loosen the dirt, and even with a light touch, I couldn't get my wash mit to lift any of the dirt off the car with out marring the paint. The car still had a shine, but it was also full of light swirls... also paint slickness was virtually gone.

I'm thinking that most of my problems lie in the Top Coat, I'm not entirely sure what it consists of - it says on the bottle that it can be applied on top of carnaubas or synthetics. But I think I'm going to give the Reflections wax a run on its own, or try some SynWax that I also bought to try out.

I also tried the Reflections Wheel Cleaner and Tire Shine. The Wheel cleaner does a reasonable job, which I think I will substitute in for A2Z. The Tire Shine is now one of my favorite products, it leaves a rich, matte finish... funny enough, it actually held up to the rain better than Top Coat.

Nice job. I might pick up some of the Mother's products when I replenish my funds.

BTW, you should've taken pics with the tennis courts in the background...hehe

You know what, if you haven't mentioned about the bottle on top of the car, I wouldn't even have noticed it. LOL

And yes, Armor All and I didn't have the best relation. We decided to go our own seperate ways. Hot Shine was pretty good. Still have to try Insane Tire Shine.

I'm surprised that there are some people that like Armor All. All my experiences are that they sligned off and can't keep the shine after a drive. I like the above average shine for tires but it usually goes from good to below average after one drive.

I hadn't used AA since I was 17...then I found Autopia and saw a few of Scott's details with tires dressed with AA. I bought a bottle of the plain jane "original" flavor and gave it a whirl...it was like saying "hello" again to an old friend!! At age 31 I am now using AA for tire dressing on the bulk of my details. As Lee said it doesn't do some of the things that the higher priced boutique dressings do but for the cost it is a great product.

I agree Mike. The new formula makes all the difference in the world. I think my fear initially was a bad hangover from early detailing in the late 80s when the dashboards were done in AA and left way too glossy. I had a Pontiac Firebird 5.0L V8 (with a Bose stereo that rocked :) ) at the time and a very angled windshield. AA just reflected the pebble grains in the top of the dash a bit too well that it was very visible in the glass...
