Towels. Wash first? Which side to use?

I've got a number of new towels that have showed up this week in kits, or separately from other orders:

2 MF from CMA

Autopia ultimate detailing towels

Autopia Concours buffing towel

Waffle towels for drying

Should these be washed (fragrence and bleach free detergent of course) prior to use? Or just some of them?

Also, the MF towels from CMA have a fine side and a rough side. I hate to look soooo stupid but have to ask - which side do I use? Or is there a different use for each side?

I would wash them first. Run the washer alone though before washing your MF's and wash your waffle weave alone (after use because the polishes and stuff from the other towels can actually prevent the waffle weave towels from drying.)

I'm not sure about your MF's from CMA but mine have a plush side and a suede like side. I like to use the plush side for removing polish and wax, and use the fine side for window buffing.

No matter what it is or who it is from... always wash first! Why? The fabric may have a residue from the weaving or knitting process, finishes from the dyes or bleach, chemical sizing, etc. Typically the towels pick up loose yarns when the fabric is cut, they also pick up machine oil from sewing machines, dirt and other contaminants in the factory, workers drop them on the floor, God knows what else! It's better to be safe than sorry.

ZenHog- What Jason and DFTowel said :xyxthumbs You CAN use the non-plush side of your MF's for product application/removal, but it's not as "safe" as using the plush side (nowhere for particles to migrate to/get caught up away from your finish). I myself use them as Jason does.
