Towels Only!

Hate to throw another variable into the mix here, but the 4" pads from TOL or CMA when used with the correct backing plate are great for small areas/touch-ups when a larger pad won't fit. They can be used on either a PC or rotary.

Haven't looked at the TOL 4" pads very close, but the ones I got from CMA are made by LC:

I was intrigued by that statement from the TOL site, also.
No, it really doesn't work, for me. The second pad becomes loaded with the product very quickly. I tried it with Klasse AIO... easy on/off. But the two pads rather quickly become equal.

I have three rotaries, two PCs, and a Cyclo. I have a machine of some sort in my hand three or four hours a day. The Cyclo, albeit a fine machine, simply does not do more than the PC. I probably get comparable results, but I can't justify the cost (250% more than the PC!)

Thanks Jim. Not surprised that this wouldn't work in practice.

I am quite content with my PC!

Recommendations?
Dewalt, Makita and Porter Cable tend to be the most widely used/popular. Selection depends on your intended use(s).

Check out the Chicago Electric at Harbor Freight ($24.99!)
Check out the Fein Rotary

I firmly believe that, given equal circumstances, all five of these buffers would produce comparable results...

So, we're back to intended use... I love my Fein ($300+) because it is an extremely well made tool, and its weight is similar to a pc, which means I can buff with one hand. Important when doing the roof of a Suburban!

Decisions, decisions...

Jim
