towels and applicators

hello all.

I just washed my cotton 100% towel with the machine and I'm drying in the air.

Do you recommend using dryer or air dry? I just touched my towel that is hanging and the small stone just came out of it. I have no idea why it was inside the towl but I was curious if I should have used the dryer to get rid of all dirts or stone.

Other question, how often do you replace the towels or applicators? My towels and applicators looks dark even after washing. I think I used them for more than a year. Should I get new ones or just keep washing and that's no problem.

1. air dry everything

2. your applicator pads should be fine as long as they aren't degrading at all. as for towels, if they are regular terry cloth, make sure they aren't falling apart after the washing gets done. most of the time wiht my terry towels, the threads start coming loose which tells me that i should have gotten some mfs(microfiber towels) from pakshak!!!

I guess it's time for me to try out some of MFs (towel and pads).

I had 4 Zaino applicator pads from one of their distributor's shop in NJ, first time I used them, the corner started ripped and I could see the yellow sponge. It was so cheap quality, it happened to 4 of them. but when I ordered 2 pads from zaino online, those are strong and I'm still using them.

does pakshak still have deals on MF towels? I remember they had deals during last summer.

I thought it was okay to machine dry cotton stuff because they aren't affected by heat like MF is. (Might get some lint and stones out too...) :nixweiss

For cotton, it shouldn't be a big deal as long as no dryer sheets are put in to the cycle.

Mist the towel with a spritz bottle to de-static the towel you should be good to go.

The decreased life expectancy is a no biggie as they are usually relegated to tire / trim detail long before that ;)

Anyone else think of a reason not to dry Cotton towels?

The only tip I can add in the event that some newbies have already come across it in other threads is to use liquid detergent. The granulated version (even quick dissolving tide) you can always run the risk of having it not fully dissolve and then embedding itself in the cotton twist.

I dry everything on low: foam pads, cotton towels, chenile sponges, MF's (although seperately from everything else). The dryer is a wonderful tool for removing any little dirt, dust, or lint that may still remain after washing. I guess I figure I don't want to use the stuff forever, but I do want it to be as clean and like-new as it can be when I use it. If washing and drying means I have to replace stuff more often, then so be it. But I haven't really noticed that. Only the chenile sponges seem to slowly get worse for wear as the strands pull out. But they easily go 1-2 years before they look a bit mangy. I really don't want to use the same wash sponge for longer than that anyway. But that's just my opinion.

that's exactly what I learned from my experience. :) I thought air dry would be safer but I'll use the dryer from next time.
