total newbie needs alittle help!

Hi guys. I just bought a flex3401 and need alittle advice on my detailing process.

After washing-clay-wash...

Step 1 wolfgang 3.0 swirl remover with yellow ccs cutting pad.



Step 2 polish with ccs white poliah pad



Step 3 glaze with ccs blue pad



Step 4 wolfgang sealant with ccs red pad



Step 5 possible wax for more "pop" after sealant cures.(by hand)



Is this ok for a car with pretty decent paint. The car is black with minor swirling and a few light scatches..



Also do i need to use a microfiber to clean off the residue inbetween swirl/polish/glaze process.

Not many wolfgang fans around here, but it looks like an ok plan to start with. Just start a test area and see if you can get to your desired finish. Since you are polishing, there is no real need for step 3. Wolfgang sealant does look nice on black, so much so that I'd just wait till the next wash to top it, if you think it needs it.



And yes, you will need to clean the residue between each process. It is also advisable to do an IPA wipedown after steps 1&2.

I have read alittle about numerous products and only leaned towards the wolfgang products bc of the sealant. I am open to suggestions with the cutting fomula........ was thinking megs105 then 205 polish but thought maybe it was to aggressive for my car considering i have no major issues. Thanks for the ipa advice. I just researched that and plan on using it in my detail.
 
If you are ok with ordering stuff, I'd really stick with UNO, its so much easier for a newbie, but going with 105/205 is also a solid approach as well. Can you tell us about the car itself, maybe post some pics?
 
The Wolfgang polishes are made by Menzerna (equivalents: TSR = SIP, FG = 10FA) so there should be no mystery or controversy there.



You say: "OK for a car with pretty decent paint. The car is black with minor swirling and a few light scatches." This is a general statement so unless you posted a pic it is difficult to judge and everyone has a different definition.



In an event, I would not start out with a yellow CCS pad. This is a cutting pad so can leave too much marring you have to get out.



You should do a test spot with either LC white, LC orange, or LC Tangerine (HT pads) and see what kind of results you put it. These pads should not add much marring while taking out defects.



If you need a yellow cutting pad you are better off getting Meg's M105 (or get Meg's Ultimate Compound locally) for more cut rather than a more aggressive pad. It is always good practice to add as little marring back as you take defects.



M105, SIP, 106FA is a good set to have in the arsenal (support on most paints). Menzerna has changed their labeling so they use PFxxxx now.



The one advantage of WG polishes had been you could get Menzerna in smaller sizea (16oz rather than 32oz, plenty) so less out of pocket expense.

Interesting; Menzerna (USA?) are making polishes specifically for PBMG, similar to FMJ marketed by Proper Auto Care?
 
Thanks guys for the help. I should have specified i do have an ccs orange pad that i planned on using on 90% of the car. Just planning on using the yellow for the trouble areas. As for the car- it is a 07 black infiniti g35 coupe. I am using my phone to post this so once i get to a computer i will definatly post up some pictures. Thanks again.
 
....and i guess after all the advice i should rephrase my question....... would it be ok to start with wolfgang swirl remover with a ccs orange pad, do a ipa wipedown, and if satisfied move on? ......and if not move to megs105 with a yellow pad... by the way, i can see this becoming a real addiction. I am sitting here at the easter dinner table typing on my cell phone trying to get a good process going haha, before i know it i am going to have a whole closet of products with 10 machines.
