Topping: Wait until SG cures for a week?

From my experience with SG I think a week is appropriate. After some coats of SG I've encountered a little streaking 2 days after which had me thinking it takes a couple of days to fully cure. Unless there has to be some reason you can't wait a week enjoy the SG shine for a week and you'll appreciate the depth of P21s that much more.

It should be applied right after the glaze. The carnauba is the medium that should dry and harden a little. This is where the resolution and depth of shine will really come from.

I wait 1 week. I don't think it's overkill. Polymers require 1 week to fully cure and harden. 24 hours is a significant amount of time. Unfortunately it is just not enough.
