Too many nice cars

I thought we had more nice cars here in La Jolla, CA (San Diego) than just about anywhere else. Well, my cousin (hopefull actress) just moved to Beverly Hills and I went to visit here yesterday - I've never seen anything like it. As a professional detailer, I couldn't help but focus on all the nice cars while shopping in Beverly Hills - it was the real deal for sure. In an hour and a half, I counted 7 Ferraris and about 15 Bently's. Oh yeah, about every third car was a black Beamer or Mercedes - and the most amazing thing to me was the fact that most were properly maintained - swirl free. Here in San Diego there is no shortage of black BMWs, Mercedes, Porches, etc., but MOST are swirled/marred to hell and back from improper washing - sometimes I feel like I'm in vietnam...fighting as hard as I can for the detailer's cause, but fighting a loosing the battle to all the lousy car washes.

Patrick...I hope you're getting a piece of that Beverly Hills action!

One of the most disturbing things I've ever seen I spotted while driving through Beverly Hills. I stopped at a light (I think I was on Sunset, but can't remember exactly, this was about 10 years ago), and I heard a car before I saw it, and it sounded very nice. . . I turned my head and saw, to my dismay, a hot pink (we're talking Mary Kay pink on crack here, like eye-bleedingly pink, even the freakin' interior was mostly pink from what I could see) Lamborghini Countach.

Now, there's nothing wrong with being filthy stinking rich, but being filthy stinking rich to the point where you can advertise the fact with a statement that says "Hey, not only can I afford this wonderful piece of machinery, but I can afford not to take it seriously at all" is a different matter entirely :)

I still get scared when I picture that car.

Was there a woman driving it? Maybe the owner DID take it seriously...seriously enough to get a pink one for his wife, or maybe it was a famous actress, who bought it for herself.
