Today's Detail v.Uncle's Caddy

CutNAction: You will be happy with the #80. And I got the pads today you sent me! Thanks ;)

Gonzo: Having a roof that doesn't need polishing really speeds up the time. And yes they were very happy!

Sean: I was impressed as well, if you work the #80 until it starts to disappear, it comes out with great results. With you rotary users can use water and get great results! :lol

Great job!

I'll get swirls over time on my black car where dacp would be too much, but SMR would be too little. In these cases, I go over the paint with 3M SMR with a yellow cutting pad, which gives me about a 60% improvement. Then I have to go over the paint again with a smr/white-pad to clear it up, and then wax. It takes up more time than I would like for swirls so minor. :(

I wonder if #80/white-polishing-pad would suit me better.. The improvement you've shown on that cadillac is really pushing me to try it!

How long did you work each panel? i.e., that fender you took before and after pictures of? DId you really have to lean in on the PC? how many passes? I'm so amazed that you can do that with just a polishing pad. I would've immediately gone to dacp or the equivalent.

Clean Dean: Thanks :xyxthumbs

I don't really know how it would work on black w/ a polishing pad. Scottwax uses this combo on his 626 w/ good results. I could throw in a sample in the order you made from me?:D

I worked each panel until the product started to disappear, but still moist to not cause dry marring. I made 2 passes on each panel, that pic you see is 2 passes w/#80. I didn't really lean on it, I used the method of not using the handle and putting light pressure on the head of the PC. The motor did not bog down at all! I myself would have gone w/DACP as well, but I'm really trying to get into teh Autopia way of least abrassive method first, and in this case it worked well!

It looks like I got to this thread a little late.. If you haven't sent out the package yet, and wouldn't mind parting with a bit of #80, i'd be grateful for the opportunity to try it out! If you've already sent out the package, don't worry about it, as i was about ready to spend $ on some anyway.

Wow, just two passes did all that.. sounds like it really lives up to its name of speed glaze. I'm anxious to use it.

Nice job!!

This is funny though. One day everyone says "i wouldnt use #80(or #83) because it contains fillers blah blah, then next week people are all hot to try it lmao !

That is the one thing that makes me a little bit nervous about #80! But w/#83 I never use that as a last step, so no worry about fillers there. But I am using the Menzerna line as well, and I used the PO85RD today and was blown away by the results. Next I'm going to try the PO106 which is supposed to be the same cut as #80, without the oils like #80. And I think the Menzerna polishes spread better than any polishes out there right now!

I got some sun pics for you guys! I went by to touch up the car after a recent rain, no big deal! Oh, and an excuse to use my new camera!:D
