Today's Detail v.First detail for money

I'd say you rose to the occasion, great work! That blastic cladding can be a real PITA I know.

Remember to save the first dollar! Its bad luck if you don't. I have two dollar bills hanging next to my desk one from each of my businesses.

The vehicle looks outstanding. But the tires well the white letter still don't have that white look to them dont look as clean. What was your procedure cleaning and dressing the the tires? I use a brass brush with a APC.

Mike: Thanks:D

newagain: Shhhhhh, I felt really bad about that. I tried to clean them after I was done. I really screwed up on that and I really feel bad. I tried to use some #0000 steel wool, and it did a little bit of work on them. But in my defense, they really aren't like most white letters, they were not raised a whole lot. They appeared to be very flush with the side of the tire. I will work on it, surprised I got this far before anyone said anything! Thanks alot newagain!:D

Ok, do I save the $100 bill, $20 bill, $5 bill?

LOL...in this case you'll need to cash the 5 for ones, and save the first dollar. Technically you haven't earned a dollar yet so this will be your first one. This is the kind of thing people spend thousands of dollars to go to entrepeneur lectures to learn, so listen up! ;)

Of course, if Scott forgot then maybe its best to follow him and don't keep your first dollar LOL

Nice Job '04cobra! Gives me hope as a noob who wants to do some details for side $$$ this year!

The pictures really tell a great story! Next time get us some pics of the interrior also.

So how did you come up w/ your pricing? How much would you charge for a car or a full size SUV?

Thanks Rex. If this is something you want to do on the side for some extra dough, stick around this site and you will learn a bunch. About 6 months ago I couldn't even wash a car properly, now I can do work like this. Which is nothing spectacular to most on this site, but it is ok work! I think I did ok on it! I really didn't give a price, the ladies car I detailed for free, because her husband served her with divorce papers around X-mas, told her sister $125 and I said sure. I wouls say if you are doing it on the side, start low to get going, then work your way from there. If this truck was any bigger I would have liked a little bit more, but I'm happy! Now if they want the interior shampooed, and other add ons, by all means get the money you can! Because of this detail, I have 4 other cars to do for her brother in law, and sister! So word of mouth is a great tool!:D

I would have liked to get some pics fo the inteior for you guys, but I have a hard time capturing what I am seeing. But I will work on that and I did think about it when I was taking pictures of the car!

i think you have to save all of them and frame them and put it on your wall. ;)

awesome job. how did you use #80? it's been a long time since i've last used #80 and forgot how long i was suppose to work it, and what speed. i haven't been too successful with my SSR 1 in getting rid of some light hazing i got from my SSR 2.5 and i thought i should try something else.

Thanks Hirosh!:D

I used the #80 with a polishing pad on speed 5. I ran it over the section until the product was almost gone. I would usually run it at 6 for my preference, but I recently switched to 7.5" pads, but the PC wants to shake out of my hands with the bigger pads and backing plate. So I'm going to switch back to the 6.5" pads!

From what I understand #80 has a little more bite that SSR1. I think the SSR2 is more close in abrasiveness to #80. Do you have any SSR2? I was very happy with the #80!

thanks. yeah, i have SSR 2, and i tired it instead of SSR 1. it worked much better. it + a polishing pad at a speed of 5 removed a majority of the hazing. i missed some areas that i'm gonna leave until the next time i need to polish (or if they bug me too much!). i just had to keep going over the area a few times though. maybe i'll try #80 the next time, although i do like sticking with just one brand of polish.

I hear that! I feel the same way, but I just don't find that to be possible. I'm trying to get rid of my supplies so that I don't have so many choices. Although I am really excited about the new Poorboy's products! I'm trying to stick with the following:

Menzerna

Poorboy's

Meguiar's

Finish Kare

Adam's Polishes for QD

Hey Hirosh, did you see the Azure Mach that Sean (GSRstilez) did awhile back with Menzerna PO106, maybe you should give that a try? It's $39 a quart, and it has to be a minimum order of $50 to order from Menzerna USA! :D
