Today's Detail: Black 06 760Li Needing Some Love (LOTS OF PICS)

The rear seat has its own, message power adjustments, radio controls, pop up entertainment system, heated seats, and behind the armrest built in the trunk is a cooled fridge! The screen which you cant see in the pic is in front of the center armrest. Didnt have time to mess with the functions, im pretty sure there is a button for a waiter to bring you a hot towel and rub your feet! lol
 
Were you able to get rid of the acid rain etching? If so, what did you use?



I have some on my '04 GTO and have been unable to get rid of it. Have tried (clay, SSR, 80, 83, Sratch X, etc.)



Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ben Kenobi, have you ever considered that some folks (non autopian of course lol) get enjoyment out of their cars outside of having a perfect finish? Some folks buy cars to drive them and for what they actually do rather than to admire their finishes in a covered garage ;) I don't think it's a case of more money than brains (typically a stupid cliche, as most people don't typically come into tons of money without hard work/intelligence), but a difference in priorities. My dad has a $180k s65 AMG and could care less about swirl marks or curb rash on the wheels. While this makes me personally cringe and want to cry, he loves the car and wouldn't trade it for the world...the level of detail isnt that important.. I'm assuming these folks have a lot going on in their lives, and I think its nice they are making an effort to improve the care of their cars at all.

Car looks fantastic. The low ambient lighting is just about perfect. Great job with the car and the camera!! That is a magnificent machine!

Correct. I still have a a few ounces of the old version, the new version I havent tried yet and dont know if it will be any different. (New version's formula was changed to comply with VOC laws)
 
Nice turnaround on that horrible finish. Have you ever tried AI's ABC wash , it may have helped on that etching problem. Keep up the great work :buffing:

I never tried that...Im thinking there are two kinds of acid rain etching (1) is clear coat actually being degraded literally eaten away or (2) Chemical deposits that has "stained" the clear coat. Throughout the battle on the trunk lid i did mulitple ISP wipes to no avail. IMO the clear coat has to be leveled to the where the etching reaches like a scratch or swirls. Just thought about it now, and im going to start is to carry a lighted magnifying glass for situations like these.

Lightman, the point I was trying to get across was that it doesn't matter if you spend $5000 or $150,000 on something you take care of your property. You worked hard to earn the money to buy it why wouldn't you want it to last? If you are insinuating that I just keep my car in the garage to admire it's finish you'd be wrong. As for the cliche I don't think it's stupid as I see evidence of it time and time again here. I'm happy for your dad but don't you try to educate him on proper care? Hey, we all have busy lives, that's no excuse for poor car care. Your statement sounds a little elitist to me. :)

Ben - I do have to say that the most important property is your body. I guarantee you, that I could point fingers at you for not caring about it properly.



A piece of metal like a car can be replaced any day, and judging from the cars they have, they can afford to do it more often than you or I. With that logic, we should be pulling our hair out daily just by looking at the cars on the road. None are taken care of. :argue :argue :argue

I just think that ""us"" little people need to realize that rich folks don't think like us. As a matter of fact - if you think about it, what these people spend on these cars are most likely spend much less vs what they make than us. So why should they worry? If I drove a $500 beater, that ran well, I wouldn't detail it care for it at all.

I have to agree with Thomas....plus the customer of mine is not at an age where spending all day detailing is an option.
