Todays details consisted of an 2005 Range Rover, and 06 Carrera S. Both Black as you can soon see..............(What else is new in my world?)

1st project, the Range Rover, under cool, and cloudy conditions, with an occasional sprinkle.....Doug brought out the steamer for some additional interior cleaning.

Washed with Armor All Wash, sheepskin, Charliesoap to initially clean the wheels, then VM to shine up. NXT Extreme Shine for the tires. Orange light cutting pad, Optimum Polish, UPP.....



Next up, the 06 Carrera S......... Still cool and cloudy, and more frequent sprinkles, so after polishing, I moved it in the garage to finish up....

Armor All wash, sheepskin, Charliesoap for wheels, then followed with VM. Clearkote Rubber/Vinyl dressing for tires. Orange light cutting pad, Optimum Polish. The the sprinkles came in, so in the garage she went, and topped it off with FS UPPS. Then back out in the "sun" for pics!! Great cars, great clients.

The neighbor came over and "approved" of our work,and took a few cards from Doug and myself. They have a Black 911 Cab (Black of course) , White Navigate and a Gold benz..... Rumor has it, the man of the house went out to buy a DB9 (I wonder what color?)while we were detailing the Porsche and RR.......

Don't you just love it when the neighbors get jealous when you are detailing next door? Great way to pick up new clients! I ended up doing a quick wash/wax on a Gold Wing today when he saw me across the street cleaning his friend's ES330. :)



How is the spray version of UPP holding up for you?
 
Thanks Scott, actually, the woman is a rather devoted car care specialist. She was out there the majority of the day cleaning her Navigator up, and from x-street, it looked pretty good! She said she spends quite a bit of time on the vehicles every weekend. Im sure she devotes the majority of time to interior though. I may just have to drive by and see if the Aston Martin ever came to reality.

I really like the spray version of UPP. It clears for you real nice so theres really no "buffing" needed. But I find habits hard to break, so I spray, wipe, buff, and rebuff........Leaves a very slick and clean looking surface, crisp reflective values as well.
 
I don't know how Patrick does it, but he always seems to have wonderful cars, great clients, and gorgeous residences to detail cars with since I have been assisting him on the weekends. I feel like we almost work for Porsche now.



Wished we had a before and after shot of the Range Rover, Patrick really made the paint shine. I got a chance to use a hot water steamer that I obtained from Cosco 6 months ago, (it's not available anymore), but it certainly helps make quick work. This owner had two small children, and didn't want an interior detail, but the car kinda needed one, so with a quick but thorough vacuum, the steamer with about 15 minutes in the Range Rover got the worst of the stuff off. The customer got a good deal, and hopefully Patrick or myself will get some referrals for doing just an extra bit of work. And the engine was "Real Dusty", so with a quick wipe down with car wash soap and a wet dirty rag, I got the worst of it off. I than lightly steamed the engined, wiped it again and sprayed a light coat of 303 protectatant, and wiped it down the residue a few minutes later. (Have to be careful with engine/electrical components), but for just 15 minutes, the engines looked 90% better without spraying it with water. This very light cleaning probably wouldn't work for a heavily caked engine, but this engine was less than 2 years old, and was just very dusty. Word of advise, unless you know where you are steaming in the engine, less is better. You must be able to start the engine if you do this. But the steamer is a IMHO is much better than spraying water all through the engine to clean the engine.



Although I plan to continue to work with Patrick at Excel, I started my own detail company "So-Cal Shine Shop" to feel in the gaps and maybe to do some other cars than Porsche (LOL). Fortunately, I am going to Europe for 3 weeks in May, so Patrick will be on his own. Hopefully, Patrick will still need me in June, and I will be getting some of my own customers too.



(Actually, I don't think I could ever get tired of Porsche's. After doing a Porsche and a few other high end cars, I can really say there is a difference in Porsche in their design and quality for every thing, especially their leather stitching in the seats).



Of the 6 Porsche's I have done with Patrick, this one was unique. It was the first one that had 2 baby seats in the back seat LOL. Those lucky girls. Also unique on this detail, a celebrity lived up the street. Although we didn't see him, we saw a neighbor who could of been his twin. (You just never know anymore with all this plastic surgery). The owner of the Porsche is one of the best Hand Specialists Md's, so if Patrick or I mess up our hands polishing too much, we now know a guy who can fix us up. :).



The owner was really cool and bought us great muffins for the day. Patrick and I normally work through the day when we have 2 cars. He also mentioned a great place in So Cal that high end sports cars get together on the last Sunday of every month in Calabasas (?) at the Village Coffee Roster (something like that) where something like 20 to 30 Lamborghinis and Ferrari come out and go cruising later.
