Today's black Tahoe - bad after pix!

Looks great!

How was the micro-marring with the SSR3? It appears that there is a little in the second picture.

Thanks ZaneO!

Honestly, the Tahoe took up most of the space in the garage so lighting was terrible. I couldn't see any, I could only see hazing - lots of it. But after ssr1 the paint inside the garage and outside (cloudy) made me look good :D

I'll probobly give her a free wash on a sunny day and look at it under better conditions.

Isn't that one of the new "Constant Pressure" pads?

Do you mean hazing from the polish? That's what I was referring to as micro-marring.

ZaneO - I need to be educated.

Isn't hazing a dull area due to not working a product in long enough?

Doesn't micro marring occurs when you are removing defects but you introduce new small scretches? Like using a cutting pad with DACP/SSR3?

but hazing comes off with a lighter polish.

The pant looks very different (even and clear) once I go over the heavier compounds with light ones.

????

I've never had a problem with the DACP as far as inducing micro-marring or hazing. If anything, I only get slight hazing, which is caused (I assume) by not working the product dry. If it's difficult to get off, I use an LSP with cleaners in it (1Z WPS) or something like AIO; which act as bases for a top coat of carnumba eventually.

BTW, I got so mad at my dog today. He get out of his kennel in my room while we were at dinner (he broke my leather belt that was there to 'ensure' he wouldn't get out) and ran out the door when we got back. Took me, about 10 minutes and a Go-Ped to find him

But atleast he didn't scratch my car :)

Is the second picture before or after the lighter polishes?

The CMA pad - I can't tell from the pic but is it just the velcro backing coming off or did the foam rip?

1 - after/finished

2 - velcro

Were you able to improve the marring shown on the after photo? I have a black Tahoe and it's a PITA to correct.

Please take no offense, I am by no means trying to bash your work, but it looks like you left some bad hazing/micromarring that is similar to my experience when I first started using SSR3.

SSR3 is pretty strong stuff and I personally have learned the hard way if you start it off too fast (speed 5 or 6) with a cutting pad you get really bad hazing/micromarring that's a PITA to remove.

For me, the bad hazing left by SSR3 once (similar to your after picture), took DACP w/cutting pad, DACP w/polishing pad & SFP w/polishing pad to remove it.

The thing I learned with SSR3 is to start off slow about 3.5 - little if not any pressure and let the polish do the work, once it breaks down a bit then you can bump up the speed if desired. This method yields the least amount of hazing left by SSR3 and I've been able to go straight to a finishing polish with no problems.

One other thing I've learn is the pads can get caked pretty quickly and that too will cause excessive marring.

That's too bad about the CMA pads, I've had that happen to me from a few brands too.

blkyukon - it ok, man! I appreciate your concern.

the hazing (to me that's when the paint is dull) I could clearly see while detailing, but after ssr2.5 & ssr1, the paint looked beautiful. Please understand that it was very dark in the garage. ( I explained to her when we made the appointment that working in that garage is not optimal but she said she had seen my work and she was sure that she was going to be satisfied with the detail) Even when I pulled out side & took the after pictures the car looked "perfect". There is nothing I can do about it now. I will offer her a free wash in the future on a sunny day and I'll go from there. On another note she is happy htat her dog induced sretches are gone. I'll call her next week and ask her how the truck is looking. I'll keep you posted.

I have been using CMA pads all along and they have truly been abused but all held up except one yellow that I washed in the mashine. Velcro separated.

I am sure they will replace it for me. Right???
