Nice work on the 997!!

Find the paint a bit soft too? I know my paint sure is.

Interior leathers I find from Porsche have a very unique smell/odor. I switched from Z-10 to Sonus Leather Conditioner only on the Porsche. The Sonus releases the tanning oil smells when new. Z-10 as good as it always is, it's a bit too overpowering for a Porsche leather interior.

Wait till you have to do a GT3 which is similar to my C2S. Now those can be a bit more challenging with the wings and front nose.

If you ever do one with PCCB's (Ceramic Brakes) and if the customer requests the wheels come off for full cleaning, decline unless you have TWO wheel hangers to protect the rotor which is brittle and can be damaged easly. New cost of a rotor... $5000.00. The two hangers assist the wheels back on w/o damage to the rotor. The hats are stainless steel. Just thought you should know!

Nice job once again!!:2thumbs:

Great job on the detail! How did you like the Poorboys Polish w/ Sealant? I've used it on about 15 details now. It doesn't have the cut like the Poli Seal but you can change the cut with what pad you use. I think the Poorboys leaves the paint slick and deep looking like the Poli Seal.

Dean, thanks for the tip(s)! I will definetly decline doing such!!

Hey, can you explain to me, and as well as that client (who i just got off the phone with and also asked) what are the differences in 911, and 997?

Well, this was the first time i had used it. I just got my samples yesterday. I didnt notice any cut whatsoever, as I was using a Green pad, and was hoping to only clean and seal. To my knowlege, its a chemical cleaner and polymer protectant. Whereas the Optimum PoliSeal is a light abrasive and polymer. (I had issues with it today)

The surface was defiently slick to the touch, as i gave it my "running towel test....

So far, 1 for 1 with the Poorboys PwS...."

The 997 is the latest version of the 911 series of sport cars. Every so often, they will go through a design change and then they add one more number. You can tell a 996, those have headlamps that we call "Fried Egg" looking headlamps. A 997 will have round headlamps such as the one you worked on. Soon, the 998 will be done in the next two years.

Right now, the serious 997's are the GT3 and now avalible in the USA the GT3-RS (RennSport) which is one sick street legal track car. These both have a 3.6 Liter engine as your customer has. The Carrera S, like the one I have will use a 3.8 liter engine and can also have added to it the X-51 Power Kit which adds 26HP. Those are easy to spot when you open the back cover. If it has a carbon fiber airbox with two air scoop intakes, a metal intake as opposed to plastic and headers, it's a X-51 version. These also have the PSE exhaust. Activated by a button in the cockpit to open the mufflers up. With a Sport Chrono pack, it will also not only open the mufflers, but re-map the ECU for faster throddle responce, stiffen the suspension to Sport since these cars have PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management). There also should be a button next to it that looks like a shock, hit that at the same time, you get open muffler, fast throddle, but normal suspension. Sport is too hard for street, but on a smooth track, it's unreal!

Also both the GT3 and GT3-RS will have Mich Pilot Sport Cup tires, which are reduced tread sticky tires. The new GT3-RS is just several seconds slower than the Carrera-GT at the "Ring" in Germany, that's how sick the GT3-RS is!

You can also tell him my car is one of the first to put satellite radio into the PCM. What I did was order the kit for the Cayenne and cabled it up to the MOST ring (fiber optic) system between the PCM, Nav unit and CD-Changer. Not approved by Porsche, but hell it works!

I also hope he invested in a good radar system. I have the new K-40 Bluetooth both front and rear. Saved my *** a few times.

Paint film would also be a wise choice. Paint is so soft it can get damaged easy.

He can find more info over at RENNLIST for general info on any 997's and RENNTECH for more detailed info, DIY and TSB's etc. I'm on the 997 forum on RENNLIST and RENNTECH.

You have to go out in one of these cars to really feel how well they respond.

2, she just bought the Carrera about 1 year ago, and it hasnt had any sort of protection applied since. We werent even sure the dealer applied anything. The shape (prep wise) it was in for a new Porsche was terrible. Adhesive in several locations, and some film protectant scrappings still abound. We agreed that this time I would just get it protected, hence the Poorboys PwS. She said to put her on the quarterly calendar, so next round it will get a light (hopefully) polish, and better sealant. A more thorough detail.
