This bimmer, Im certain has seen better days. It was bought used about a year ago, and I believe the owner said it wasnt even prepped before they bought it from a private party. It definetly showed wear and tear through its existance! Swirls were moderate to severe on horizontal panels. It really needed about another 6 hours of work to really bring it back to showroom finish. The owners were very surprised to see how well it cleaned up though. They hadnt anticipated as long an effort into it, nor did I. I estimated about 4.5 hrs, it went a full 6.
Washed with Sheepskin and Armour All Auto soap, cleaned wheels with Optimum Wheel Cleaner and White Knight PowerStick. Polished with Yellow 5.5" LC (Four Star Body Shop Medium Cut Compound), Orange 5.5" LC (Four Star Body Shop Light Cut Compound) with UDM. Then it got interesting. This black needed some extra pop, so I reached for Danase's Wet Glaze and applied to a small area. I was amazed at the depth and richness this brought to the paint. So I mixed up Wet glaze with Surf City Nano Seal about 2 part SC to 1 part Wet Glaze (Which smells out of this world by the way!) To give you an idea of how thirsty this paint was, after mixing about 4 oz of product, when all was said and done, I had about 1/2 an oz remaining. But it really came back to life with the Nano Seal and Wet Glaze. (Bob, thank you for letting me try out the product line!) Tires were revitalized with Surf City Beyond Black Tire Pro..........
And then theres the interior.............all I can say is lots of time, Charliesoap, Duragloss 221 Leather Conditioner.......and my new Rigid Vac........The Bimmer leather was pretty well gone on the front seats which was kind of surprising to me. It was some of the most deteriorated leather I have come across. And what can you do besides clean it up as best you can, and give to life what remains of it....
