To Edge or not?

I had terrible luck with the edge system on a porter cable. The adapter was always failing, the ball in the end of it fell out on one of them. And the pads really seemed too dense in the medium size

If I remember there was a issue with that happening in the earlier release but that was taken care of.I my self as said never had that issue as I still have and still use the original adapter.

seems as some people like the edge and some don't. i know what it like to use 4" pads and backing plate but not how the pc works with the edge. guess i'll try the edge not much to lose. in the 4" pads the only ones available are for the cyclo.

But supposedly the 4" cyclo Edge 2K pads will work with any DA or Rotary as long as you have the E2K adaptor.

I just did a test-fit on my 3K IA with the 4" Edge foam pads and they snap in just fine without any possibility of unlocking themselves.

Now I just need to get the Edge wool pads to do that, hehe. :grinno:

Good to hear, Denzil. I need to get some of those four inch Edge pads. My LC 4" pads are on their last legs. I wonder if I could special order some four inchers in the different flavors of wool...

The Cyclo 4" pads work quite well by PC, but for some reason my orange ones aren't all that happy at speed 6 :nixweiss They still do the job at speed 5 though, so no worries. But I do most of my work with the green pads and the white "finishing" pads (scare quotes intentional as they're more like very mild polishing pads IMO). For something really mild, the blue Sonus 4" pads work well.

Be a *little* careful with the 4" pads...if you're used to the PC being idiot-proof with the larger pads you might oughta take it easy pressure-wise, and remember to keep the machine moving too.

I'm new to autopia and have some questions. I have a PC and need new pads. Was wondering if switching to the edge system is worth it or just get new LC or Sonus pads. Like using the 4" on the PC and thinking the 6" Edge pads maybe to much for the PC.

I love my Edge Pads on all my machines.

just got my edge adapter and pads (4") should have made the switch earlier. really like the edge system. i'm keeping the bp and other pads as there is more selection than the 3 cyclo has.

I am an edge believer, never had a real issue with them. Its hard to say whether or not 3M will change things

I just want to make sure i understand this right. The Cyclo 4" pads can be used on a PC as long as you have Edge Premium Stainless Steal Quick release adaptor...correct-o?
