TLC's "OverHaulin" show

I am not sure if anyone remembers but some time ago I posted a thread about doing a TV show along the lines of "Trading Spaces", which my wife and I enjoy watching, but instead of decorating homes it would be about doing cars, like doing minor body work, interior repair, paint chip work and glass repair and then a final detail. Well I wrote an E-mail to TLC about my idea and never got a response which is cool BUT the other day what comes on TV while we are watching Trading Spaces?????

Yeah, my IDEA!! I mean it may not be the exact thing but dang it....it's pretty darn close.....I have been robbed:angry

I just wish I had kept a copy of the E-mail....when my wife found out I hadn't she scolded me:argue

Well anyways it should be interesting to see justwhat the show is about and to see how far in detailing they go, and who is doing the detailing.

Thanks for letting me rant:sosad

I had an idea for a pizza place once. My wife told it to a guy selling bagels near her office. Three weeks later his name changes to the exact name and idea she told him about...8 yrs. later, he is still busy as ever!

Nowadays, I document every idea prior to sharing just in case. The problem is that people use the term, "That's business" to do that sort of thing, while the more humanistic people like ourselves don't undercut each other.

I have seen it..Pimp My Ride..same idea as yours Anthony.

Reminds me of Kramer's idea of a perfum scented like the beach!

You might try a follow-up letter just to see their reaction. If you have a lawyer, put it on his/her letterhead.

I don't know if i would be more embarassed to ride in those cars before or after they "pimp my ride" on some of those episodes.

LOL:D

Not only that but what if you absolutley HATE what they do to your car.........what then??

I mean its not like Trading Spaces where that freak chick puts feathers on your wall as you can just smack her in the head and then make her remove them BUT you can't just go and re-paint your "re-painted" new purple metal flaked pearl work truck that they figured you would just love, right?

Anthony

For what it is worth, I am in the ad/TV Produciton Bus and if you EVER have any kind of idea go to your local library or online and get a intelectual property copyrioght form, fill it out, have it notorized and send it in with the small fee they ask for...I do this many times a year adn it has saved me a lot of atty fees.

As much as it sucks...unless you've put a patent/copyright on your idea...it's free game.

Yeah...and about Pimp My Ride...I haven't been too impressed with some of the work they've done. But I may be biased cause that super flashy purple paint and chrome rim look is not me.

However...the paintjob on that girl's mustang was a great color...

As long as they take my Accord, fix all the hail damage with repaint, install a new interior with Recaro seats and do the H22/5-speed swap, I don't care whose idea it is. :p

Now you are scaring me!

Actually I watched the show tonight and they did great work, including building up the engine, chip foose was in charge of it all, and everyone knows what a great designer he is.

Pimp My Ride is kinda cool..... but they did install a Karaoke machine in the trunk of one persons car. Thats a nice thought and all... but when are you going to ACTUALLY use that in real life? lol

on the TLC's "OverHaulin" show the flames on that truck were great never seen flame work look so real.

I agree! Now the Mustang wasn't too bad other than the wheels!

Yep those wheels on that Mustang were fugly. They just didn't seem to fit the car.

I always wanted them to show the engines on Pimp my ride but they never do. Do they even do any work on the engines or detail them? I wonder if the engine blows up on the ride home for some of the people; most of them are poor and couldn't get it fixed.

It makes you wonder if it would be cheaper and better to scrap their old heap of junk and buy them a new car?

They can donate the old car to that show where they build stuff out of the junk yard!!
