tire black and carpet cleaner

2 unrelated questions if u don't mind...

1)-what is a good one step tire black? Preferably something that cleans and blackens in one step. I'm not looking for that glossy look that looks as tho it's been painted with gloss enamel. Just something that will clean the oxidation and leave a clean layer of rubber with a slight gloss. Anything like this that is widely available at places like Kragen, Autozone, etc?

2)- where my shoes rest on the floor mats, a greyish area of dirt quickly appears after it's cleaned. Is there a simple solution i can use by just dampening it and brushing that will quickly clean it so that it's as clean as the surrounding area? I have never had a problem cleaning my mats, but again, i'm looking for something that is more quick and effective.

I'm not a detailer obviously, and i'm not fanatical about detailing. I just want to cut the time and effort i have to spend on my car. Thanks...

I would try one of PB's protectants, Meg's #40 or No wipe type product.
What do you currently use to clean and protect your tires?

I just got a new car and havent yet. And my old car i don't recall what i used because i ran out about a year ago and haven't domne it since.

I can't clean them often enough, which is why i asked for a quick easy product to just remove the greyish dirt area that starts accumulating and showing within a day after it's dead clean. I was going to just use a small black rubber mat to cover just that small area where my feet rest. But all i could find were either thin light plastic mats that slip and slide all around, or heavy black rubber, which is what i need to keep it from slipping, but unfortunatly they only come in sets of full size mats to cover the entire floor front and back. That would be the better solution than cleaning it every day. But i've looked everywhere for a thick black rubber mat around 1'x10" or around there with rubber spikes on the bottom. That would stay put and be the perfect solution. The closest i came was at autozone, but they had some "racing team" or some such crap embedded in it. I'm too old for that crap.....just black dammit !! :)

(and yes i tried velcro on one of those thin plastic mats, but the carpet's weave is too tight for it to grip)

A couple of things that I have found at the local store that worked for what you are asking about is
1) The Armor All Tire foam - one step foam, will clean a little, and is not very glossy
2) Prestone spray cleaner - quick, gets out dirt (you could also try the Blue Coral Dri-Clean)

Thanks....... i will try the armor all and prestone or blue coral if i can find it. (never seen the prestone in stores tho)
