Hi all new to this site,Ihave a 81 trans am the car was stored outside for 15yrs paint is very rough some surface rust.My question is that i just got the car on the road after 3yrs of slow mechanical restore. Now my budget is very tight like to have the body and paint done in 2008,is there any good tips and products i can use to make it look a little more presentable till then,i dont have a high speed buffer just a cheap orbiter polisher. Thanks all for your advise.Tazz.

Deep Crystal 3 step is nice, but IMO the cleaners in ColorX are much stronger. Nothing will help with the rust, but the ColorX is the fastest way to remove oxidation by hand as far as OTC products go. How bad are the rust spots? If they aren't that big, cleanup and touchup paint will work wonders for the 10 foot look :D

Since you don't have a real buffer, getting out the deep water spots is not going to happen. You can pick up some ScratchX too, but I hope you have plenty of time on your hands. IMO its not worth it if you are doing a repaint in the future.

Just grab the ColorX and try it out. I think it will give you what you want. Great thing about Meg's products, moneyback guarantee if you don't like them :D

Something that really helps with a paint in the condition you're mentioning is the applicator. Apply it with a thick napped terry towel so it has a bit more bite.
