Tips for a first timer?

With the Spring season and warm weather fast approaching, it's time for me to be thinking of making my car look pretty. I haven't done any detailing other than a simple waxing and washing with a sock..

Any tips to help me make my car shine again, outside and in?

My Cavalier has a white exterior and a grey interior, if that at all makes a difference.

Thanks for that good post! Please don't be offended, but the first thing I would recommend is that you invest in a sheepskin mitt and your favorite car wash soap in order to safely wash your Cavalier.

Also, you may want to give everyone an idea of the products you usually use to polish and wax your car.

I suggest you check out some of the articles that are fairly accessable to the newer detailer, such as the ones in the Learn! link at the top of the page.

Then I suggest focusing on getting some good supplies (not your sock :p) that are paint-safe and won't cause any damage (such as the sheepskin mitt Frank suggested). With that, study up on good washing and drying technique, because they are one of the basics that are very important to keeping a car looking good.
