Tip for washing mf

FYI:

I had two very dirty and grease filled mf. Normally I just wash them in a bucket of dawn by hand and then pour the contents in the washer. I thought these two were beyond normal cleaning. I soaked them in dawn over night after hand washing. The results is unbelievable. The water was completely black and the bottom of the bucket was black. I just rinsed the bucket the next day and rewashed the towels. They look almost new.

Its really hard to belive how much nasty stuff can fit into a MF towel, and it wont look dirty. I hand washed a MF twice in hot dawn water and was still ringing out dirt and sludge the seccond time.

A high quality MF towel is worth its weight in gold. I make it a point to launder them alone. Otherwise, they seem to pick up a ton of lint from the other towels.

If I have very funky rags to clean, I typically hand wash in DAWN then let them do a quik wash cycle in regular detergent. I then run them thru a normal wash cycle + 1 extra rinse. On the first rinse (post washing), I throw in a cup or two of white vinegar to help break the chemical bond of the wax with the MF towel. The final (extra) rinse is just clean water.

Hey, it might sound like overkill but the towels are like new when they come out.

Just be cetain to check the washing machine drum to make sure it's clean so the boss doesn't get pissed.:nixweiss

aurora, thanks. Is this stuff hard to find or is it widely available??

Is it really any better or is the "clean rinsing" marketing hype?

thanks.

Yes, I know I have become a stranger to Autopia. Things are going well, I just don't seem to have the time that I used to to visit this site. I stop by every once in a while and browse, but that's about all I have time for anymore.

I'm enjoying the car show season and the top down cruising. :up Thanks for asking about me. :)
