Tint goes on the INSIDE, right? How best to clean it?

Dumb question, I just got my car tinted. If I wanted to, I could use an Ammonia-based cleaner on the outside, right, because the film is on the inside? I use IG, but just making sure.

How should I best clean the inside, i've heard of water with a touch of soap, or will the IG work? Thanks guys, forgive the question please, LOL.

The tint is definitely on the inside of the window. Use a tint safe glass cleaner on the inside. Usually the product will state whether it is tint safe.

I use Plexus Plastic Cleaner. Cleans, adds UV protection, polishes(chemically), resist dusting and lubricates. Excellent product when used with a very soft MF on all smooth surface plastics. :xyxthumbs

1 quart water in a spray bottle

3 drops of Johnson's baby shampoo

Shake vigorously and spray onto tint. Work/clean with a low knap microfiber towel.

Just don't use ammonia-based cleaners.

Good luck,

Mike

A tint-safe glass cleaner will typically state that it is either "safe for tint" or "ammonia free". I believe Stoner IG is safe for tint.

I use Sonus Vision on my tinted windows with no problems, but I always use water and a MF applicator first. If that doesn't work, I use the glass cleaner.

And yes, window tint film is applied to the inside of a window.

Stoner's is nice.

Other ones that say tint safe actually aren't always.

I recommend my customers use 1 part distilled white vinegar to 3 or 4 parts of water.

It costs about $0.76 to make a gallon of cleaner.

Most people get streaks because they use it wrong. It's not windex....so don't cover the whole window till it's dripping. I use about 1 squirt on a side window and maybe 3 on the windshield.

The nice thing is that it will strip off that icky layer of haze crap on the windshield that just won't ever go away.

There's actually a sign in my shop that says, "There will be a $20 charge for 'I thought the tint went on the inside.'"

stoner's, quick and easy. I recently picked up a bottle of meguiars, but forgot if it is tint safe. The great part about meguair's is that it smells great.

Whats wrong with using just water? My tint guy said to just use water-distilled works perfect with microfiber. Inside of the windows never gets dirty enough to really need soap?
