All About The Bling Bling
Well I'm throwing in the rag. I'm giving up detailing for now. For the last few months i've been working with a hurt back. Going to the chiropractor twice a week and taking pain killers kept me going thru the day. Well last week while i was scrubbing some carpets i went to get up and something happened cause about half way up i got this intense sharp pain that made a grown man almost cry. Well i got to the doctors the next day and he gave me some pain killers and set up a mri for me.

Well today i went to get my results. Bad news.... I got some discs bulging out and my L5 vertebra sliped to the point where i need surgery to correct it. Yep.. there going to put some plates, rods, and screws in my lower back.

Anyways the doc told me all those months i worked with a hurt back just made it worse... They told me that it would be about 6 months after the surgery before i'm 100% back to normal. Its a good thing that i got a partner to run the business. That i can trust and and know that the work is getting done the way i do it ...

Alright i'll stop boring everyone with my story, i'm just down about having a 6 month vacation i guess you could call it.

Sorry to hear about your back. I have a herniated disc between L4 and L5. I understand your pain. There were days that I couldn't even stand up straight - the pain just floored me!

Good luck on your surgery. I'll be keeping positive thoughts for you...

Sorry to hear about that!! I hope you recover quickly after your surgery. In the mean time take it easy.

Sorry to hear about the back, atleast you have a good partner to keep the business going till you get back on your feet.

So when do they want to operate?

I'm sorry to hear about this. Back trouble is nothing to mess around with. You are doing the right thing in taking a break.

I hope your recovery goes well and quickly.

I feel your pain........literally. At least you are able to do something about it, I'm not able to $wing it right now.
Godspeed for your recovery.

I had that done Mar 1988. Mine turned out to be more of the nerve canals not big enough, so they enlarged the nerve canals and today I feel great. Don't try and do things before you are recovered. Take it one day at a time.

I'm sorry to hear of your back. Hope all goes well, and the surgery fixes you right up. I'll be going in on August 18th for a MUCH MUCH more minor surgery on my knee, but hey...we'll kinda be recoup'in together...although a few miles apart. Best of luck, and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Thanks again everyone... This coming week will be a test for me. Doctors order is no working up til surgery. But i want to so badly. good thing alot of you post your work on here so it will at least make it easier for me.

So sorry to hear about your back. I've had three lower-back surgeries myself, the first to fix a problem very similar to yours... and the other two to fix problems from the first surgery!

Makes detailing a pain in the backside, doesn't it??!! I get about halfway through a car and my entire lower end, from the waist down, just goes numb. Its become my "time to take a break" alarm.

It might be too late for you (it was too late for me, too), but I would stay away from surgery at all costs. I can appreciate working through the pain, and in-turn making the condition worse... I did the exact same thing.

It was only after my first surgery that I started really studying conditions of the back. I was a pro athelete in another life and thought I knew alot about sports related injuries, and found that I didn't know squat. Also found that most lower back conditions will work themselves out with proper support, rest, and exercise... even slipped and/or herniated disks.

That last statement came directly from my back specialist, who was on the team that did Joe Montana's back surgery. After everything I've been through even he admits that we should've waited to see if things stabilized.

My advice, FWIW, is to stay away from surgery if at all possible. Pain is no fun, being immobilized for a few weeks or even months is worse, but once you've taken the plunge with surgery there's no going back... sorry, no pun intended.

I hope everything works out for you, regardless of the direction you take. Please PM me if you want to discuss further... I've got lots of information and experiences to share.

That sucks man putting your life on hold is hard trust me I know. Back in April I went through knee surgery (torn cartillage(sp?)) and it was rough sitting at home. Hope you have a speedy recovery and look at the bright side you live in Fl so the cold weather irratating the back is not an issue. The rain on the other hand well lets just say my knee knows more then the weather man lol (sometimes).
