I was reading on a different board and there is a big discussion about detailing products and one person who is says he is a professional detailer made this comment among others:

"Also, those who use REAL carnuba wax on clearcoat/basecoat finishes, you are slowly but surely dissolving your clearcoat. Ecolab has proven that carnuba does absolutely nothing for enhancing the shine of the vehicle w/ basecoat/clearcoat paint. Real carnuba, in its pure form is rock hard and contains somewhat toxic chemcials. Its similar to using synthetic products (man made) that contain high levels of petroleum and silicon. these two chemicals are added for the high shine they produce (especially in tire dressing) but will damage paint and rubber over time."

Is this BS or does this guy know what he is talking about? I have never heard that carnauba can dissovle the clear coat. I would post the rest of what he said, but it was basically a bash on zaino and then praising the products he uses.

Uh.... I dunno. Even if it's true, I still think that your clear coat will "dissolve" faster without the carnuba protecting it against tree sap, bird droppings, acid rain, rail dust, etc.

Otherwise, it sounds like "internet wisdom" to me.

Where is this discussion, btw? I'm looking for something to read.

I sent you a pm with a link to the thread, not sure if we can post links to other boards on here.

Of course you can. No problem with that. AFAIK, the restrictions about posting URLs are commercial sites from which you personally benefit and those with potentially objectionable religious/political/sexual content.

That statement makes no sense. It's like a bunch of sentences linked together without any thought to syntax or basic comprehension.

It ain't worth responding to, IMHO.

Sounds like speculation combined with no facts...which would result in a loud coughing sound from the back of the room...:lol

and for some strange reason..the cough sounds like the words bull shoot! or something similar!:D

Correct me if I am wrong.

Klasse AIO ans SG are made of and / or contain "acrylic" . From what I know, paints are made or is using "acrylic". In fact, some have called certain paint as acrylic paint.

To my knoweldge this are the types of paint that is being sold over the counter, as follows:

1. Latex Paint

2. Polyeurethane Paint

3. Acrylic Paint

4. Enamel Paint

From the above, I would tend to conclude that Klasse AIO and Klasse SG are the most compatible chemical ingredients to be applied on top of a paint surface... as oppposed to other product like Zaino which we do not know what chemical ingredients they are using.

Also, as far as product to paint bonding issues are concern... I tend to conclude the same.

This is what I am referring to,

Boysen Acrytex DESCRIPTION:

Boysen Acrytex is an acrylic solvent-based coating that forms a seamless, non-porous, watertight film that repels water and prevents seepage. It is noted for its excellent adhesion, long term durability and easy cleanup characteristics. It can be applied as a plain or textured finish to enhance the beauty of a structure.

What do you think of my hypothesis?
