This takes too much time.....

Since I;ve started selling products I now host around 7 detailing forums (their must be 900,000 or more them out there) anyway, along with hosting these forums goes the responsability of answering questions that people ask. I have found myself posting up to 3 hours a night. You can't believe how many people ask questions, most of them about simple basic detailing procedures. I do sell alot of products, but when you consider my time involved, I wonder if it is worth it. My wife thinks I'm logging into porn sites in the wee hours of the night. Gary

Sheesh, Gary, you need to post up some "detailing basics" like we have here, and just let them read that instead of giving them personal answers.

MIke, once you get started and get to know the members, you kind of take their problems more on a personal basis. I will have to do something soon, either cut out some forums or something...I also pay money on them to be a sponsor, so not only does it cost me but it eats away my time.....Gary

Why do you think I turned off PMs here? It gets so annoying to get several long PMs practically every day asking "what should I use on my car? "how do I get scratches out?" "what's the best wax?" "do I need to clay my car?", etc. It isn't like I don't have a few posts here and nothing prevents anyone from utilizing the search function on Autopia.

SA makes a good point , just have some threads like they do here that cover all the basic stuff. Then you visit the and spend less time posting , unless you enjoy it .

You should just come out with a gernal answer to your most common questions. So that way you can just paste it and reply. Less time envolved. Yeah it might make your customer service go down a bit, but your only one man. Its not worth killing yourself, especially when there is this wealth of knowledge on this website. So when people ask "whats the best wax" just write an answer that says okay, these are my personal recommendations for dark cars, light cars, metallic paints, etc. and just paste it and send it to them. -Berj.

YOu guys are forgetting one small thing, (or perhaps I forget to tell you) I'm selling my own line of products on these forums, so I can't just send a genarec response. can't sell if you don't clarify and promote!! Gary

I'd kill to get a good list of what wax is best on what color and finish of paint.
