Reading on a BMW forum they are talking about removing wax and the likes using a bonnet on a PC...I've not used this method and wanted to see if anyone here has...seems like over kill to me

You can read about it here

Polish/Wax Removal Bonnets on Random Orbital... - bimmerfest - BMW Forums
Yes, I've tried this. The only bonnet that seemed to work well for me was the DF Towel one. The bonnets all loaded up with product too quickly, and I found myself having to constantly stop to change bonnets (only 2 usable sides per bonnet). Using a regular towel, I can fold it up and have multiple clean sides to work with. I also keep different types of towels on hand to better match each product (some towels are better at wax removal, others are better at polish removal, etc.).

Just my 2 cents, YMMV.

Thanks I sort of felt that was the case with using the PC.....I use the PB plush towels for removal of LSP's and such, and have never had any troubles and I would bet that I can get it done faster and do a better job than using a PC for this

Some people like to place a regular towel underneath a PC pad and then use the machine action. That method hasn't worked well for me. Others will argue that the machine action will result in a higher level of shine. I have noticed that using a DF bonnet as a final buff (after the majority of the wax has already been removed with a regular towel) can sometimes add a little more "pop", but I don't find it to be worth the trouble. I'd rather spend the time with a high gloss QD wipe down. Once again, YMMV.

As an individual with chronic bad joints (arthritis in the shoulders and elbows), I apply virtually anything I can apply by either rotary or PC including paste waxes. It saves me in the pain category whether it's faster or not is open to debate. That said, I've tried removing product using the PC and a bonnet and have found it's easier to remove with a good old MF. If it would save me time or effort I would be using it but it hasn't in my case. I will say that this is the one place I found to use the pad that comes with the PC, it makes a nice bonnet holder.

I tried it a few times but it was just too time consuming for me. Hard to beat good MF towels for efficiency.

I found that putting a microfiber under the pc did give a good gloss, but the towel seemed to fly out too often to make it worth while

I concur with all that Marj has posted. The bonnets seemed to load up to fast for it to be a worth while endeavor. The use of a towel with a PC has inherent dangers that I do not want to imagine.
