This interior made me rethink my career choice - Nth Degree Auto Detailing

I will never understand how someone can allow their car to get this disgusting. Fortunately the owner left the car with me for 3 days for me to work on it around my schedule. I wound up committing a lot more time to it than planned. The exterior was just a wash/clay/seal. The interior took close to 10 hours, far more than I have ever spent on an interior before. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

There were a few spots that required a little correction. This was the worst.

I really think I might have run screaming from that thing. What kind of biohazard WAS that on those fold-down seats? Just looking at those pics makes me want to take a shower. Congrats on the outstanding save and intestinal fortitude required to make it happen.:rockon1:

I think this ties to a interior I did once, it was the most disgusting this I had ever seen. The owner owned a food supply business and he delivered to cargo ships in his Nissan X-trail. There was a wierd fungi growing near the spare tire and all over the storage area LUCKILY those things can be hosed out and there a drain hole if you need it near the spare so I was using the same washing methods inside the trunck as outside the car.

Why even buy a car that nice if you're just going to wallow in your own filth anyway? That's like buying a $200 pair of Dolce and Gabbana underwear, deliberately pooping in them, then going about your day like nobody will notice. I can't decide if it was a gift for the wife who doesn't give a damn because she's never earned anything anyway or if only a man could drive a car that filthy. Jeez...

Now, don't take this the wrong way, but!!!

Be it a doctor, a lawyer, your accountant, etc, they all do a bit of "pre-committment" chat or "inspection" before quoting a price or estimate.

Perhaps this is the one that will allow you to move to a more professional way of accepting a client and what is to be done.

When still in the business with AI, we had on our website an "inspection check list", and it did handle this sort of situation, plus allowed the detailer to up-sell services, kept the detailer out of harms way in regards to those few idiot customers way of threatening legal actions, etc.

While that list is no longer available for download from the site, Beth is more than happy to email it to anyone who asks her to do so.

Just contact her at 800-543-7156, tell her that Grumpy askes her to take care of your request.

10 or 15 minutes of using the check list can not only save one time, but produce increased income.

The upside to that kind of grunge is the opportunity for that type of outstanding turnaround! :xyxthumbs

Tell the truth.... you outsourced it to that guy in the video pressure washing the interior of his Mercedes, didn't you? :boink:

Nice analogy, pm. This is a woman's vehicle... and she's an attorney!

This wasn't just a random customer, but a friend of a friend. Believe me, I still have a huge favor coming from my friend.

This was actually done about 6-7 months ago. The customer recently contacted me about detailing it again. I turned it down without even looking at it.

Nice work! I especially like the results on the leather! ;)

I had some doubts about how it would turn out. Sometimes cleaning leather this dirty winds up taking some of the coating off with it on the cheaper leathers.

I considered the advertising value of this when I started. Yes. BUSTED! He took 10 minutes and what amazing results. I wish I had know about that technique when I did this.:chuckle:

obviously, it was a woman. nhf to anyone, but i only saw woman car owners turn a car into a state like this.

damn, i never cursed that much while looking this section of the forum... this was really really disgusting. the only way to make it worse that i can immagine are a couple of roaches in there...

you are not a detailer anymore, from now on, you are an exorcist for having that car cleaned this way.

Anal retentive people always get a bad rep , but it's anal *expulsive* people who are the real villains :nono :chuckle: I'll take being A-R any day of the week.

God, in a word, disgusting :spit: * Incredible* before and after! I can easily seeing this the most impressive detail on Autopia for 2011 :bow :yo:

I saw Grumpy's mention of the detail check list. I downloaded it several years back and always have photo copies of it. I use it with every for pay detail I do. It's very helpful. I highly recommend contacting Beth for it. :bigups
