This board is dangerous! (but I can't get enough)

To Z the insides of the wheels, I just did it while I was rotating the tires. As I took them off, one by one, I rolled them over to the car wash area and scrubbed them out completely front and back. Then before I remounted them I polished them up with the Z. It was also a good opportunity to scrub out the wheelwells with a stiff brush.

People give you funny looks when you're doing your own car maintanance in an apartment complex like this....

Nice job on the Escape, ShadowMan. :xyxthumbs I purchased mine this past February and so far it has been a pretty good vehicle. I had one question though: do you find that the front brakes produce an excessive amount of brake dust? I can't get over it. I will clean the front rims on a weekly basis, and by the time a week goes by they are really nasty. :scared

I've never had a vehicle that was this bad. How about yours?

It's true, Escapes get a TON of brake dust on the front wheels. I guess it's a kind of a performance trade off. The Escape has great stopping power (60-0 in 125 feet!), but the front brake pads are very soft and give off lots of dust. That's why I Z-d the wheels. It helps a little in reducing the amount of dust, but mainly it makes cleaning them a lot easier. If it gets bad in between washes I can just hose the wheels off (when they are cool) and most of it just runs off. As long as you clean your wheels on a regular basis it is not a problem.

Some people on Escape-central have said that switching to Raybestos pads greatly reduces the dust. I'm not spending that money until the pads need replaced. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Esacpe-central? I've not heard of that site before. I'm assuming that it is a site just for these vehicles; that's interesting.

Would you happen to have the web site address so that I can check it out? Thanks. :)

Thanks for the tip about that site. I found it and went ahead and registered. It looks like a good place to learn about these particular vehicles.

Wish I had known about it a while ago, but didn't really think to look for something like that. Thanks again, greatly appreciated. :up
