Thinking of getting a polisher/buffer

Hi guys!

So I'm thinking of getting a polisher/buffer to speed up the process of polishing and waxing my car. After reading the info on the site, I guess it seems my best bet would be a polisher, just so I don't burn through the paint in my car :)

Anywho, what would be a good, solid one to look into? I heard DeWalt name being passed around but not sure.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well it looks I'm going to get the Porter Cable 7424 after searching :)

Question though, it seems either like a Lowes or Home Depot or this Coastal place online would be my best bet.

Of these though, which would have the cheapest price, or even carry the product for sure?

Thanks.

I got the Lowes unit (7336SP) for $109 plus tax. Total came out to be just under $115. Then I got the DM-KIT from CMA.

Sorry for the newbie question, but what is CMA? Is it that Coastal place? Where can I find this online? Thanks again.

Ok so I think going with the Coastal Tool PC is the best bet, since it is $119 and comes with the bonus kit, including 6" Hook & Loop Contour Pad & 6" Counterweight.

Now what pads should I look into? It seems CMA has all the pads, which ones would you guys recommend, assuming I still wax by hand (or should I use the PC for this?) ? Thanks again.

Sorry, I actually didn't notice the part about the DM-KIT pads. With all of the acroynms flying around I guess I just overlooked that.

But ya know, the third time is a charm, haha. Sorry being one of those stupid newbies :D

Hey don't sweat it M3!! Sometimes, people on here, including me, forget that sometimes newbies in all of the excitement of finding a site with excellent information on detailing, get a little confused and sometimes make boo boos! Sorry, I should not have teased you about FNG's reply!!!

Hey that's quite alright 2hotford, thanks for the apology though :)

Yea I guess it was all the excitement, I can't wait to get detail my car and get it looking superb, and just sort of miss stuff, even obvious stuff, haha. But alas, only time now till I get the PC and post a bunch more questions, right? ;)

Well just purchased the PC 7424 and the DM-KIT. Can't wait to get this next week. Hopefully we'll have nice weather too :)
