Thinking about a new car

My little cousin is 18 and his dad found this lightly hit and totalled out Solara when he turned 16. He had it fixed, and completely repainted in a deep apple red. Its a really neat little car, runs great. Toyota quality in less of a "grannyish" package.

The new Solara is AWESOME too! The exterior is a little different, but the interior and the ride and drive of the car are both first rate.

Cheaper loaded than the Camry too. The Solara SLE starts at $23k.

If you are looking at the Camrys, I strongly suggest you look at the SE model. The difference between the suspensions isn't too dramatic, but you can definately feel it. It feels sportier. I've seen the SE 4-cyl automatic models sell for as low as $18k pretty well equipped. If you can find a manual, those should be even cheaper. The Solara is another great choice! Feels like a Camry but in a Sportier package.

GoodnClean  I saw a new Solara on the road the other day and it is a beautiful car. Hadn't seen the interior before the pic you posted. All I can say is :bow

I will look into getting a solara...gonna wait about 6 months though unless I see a awesome deal. I seen a 99 ford explorer 4x4 for just under 10k yesterday...had 55k miles on it. Had alloy wheels and running boards and a few other things. It was the tan color...looked pretty sharp. Had the v6 engine also...will look tommorrow. Maybe if I traded my car in and gave them some cash I could get it. Otherwise I will wait and get a solara as long as the insurance on it aint expensive otherwise its camry for me. :) Or a acura integra but those are hard to find around here

Isn't it something? Hard to believe thats a $23,000 car isn't it?

Used cars can be an excellent value as the original owner gets hit with the depriciation. The low interest rates have many owners trading in their cars leading to quite a large influx of used cars to the market. Great time to buy.

have you ever thought of maybe not getting a honda and trying another car co? i was just saying that because i have a 99 nissan maxima and its one hell of a nice car. more features than a honda, better ride, and looks better, and more powerful :) its a good thing they have crap resale value so you im sure you can find a nice priced one.. just a suggestion, heres a pic of mine :)

just a thought.. :)

I was looking at a toota camry 2002 with 8k miles on it. IT is an xle model with basically just about everything on it. It is going for 15900 right now. It was a service car. Meaning they took people home after they dropped their cars off.

Hey Pal251,

You could get a nice used Lexus IS300. You can get those all day long for around 20 grand I've seen them as low as 16. Roomy inside, over 200 hp, a little luxury, class, sport, and somewhat reliable from the reviews I've read on them. (made by toyota) I've test driven a few priced at $21,000, and one at $25,000 with around 30k on the odometer. Pretty good deal I think. Just a suggestion. Best of luck to ya!:xyxthumbs

I dunno, I'd almost rather have one of those Solaras over an IS...

Now that's just nonsence. I mean, would you rather have a 2 door Camry, or a sexy 4 door Lexus that has a legendary I6 (non turbo Supra) with a very nice interior.

For $10,000 more too.

I actually really dislike the interior of the IS. I think the interior of the Solara is much more attractive. The IS just isn't my thing.

Its all in what you're looking for. I've driven the IS at legnth, I get them as loaners, my fiancee loves it and wants one but it just doesn't do it for me. I like more of a traditional luxury ride and interior.
