Wetsanding is possible if you are careful(watch next week my clearcoat will fail:scared: )



If you decide to wetsand avoid all edges. It is hard(scary) to buff an edge out. Taping edges might be a good idea.



I don't like the orange pad and rotary combo. It is too hard to control the pad. I find softer pads work better with the rotary.



Don't lift your PC off the paint while it is on speed 6. I ripped 1/4 of the velcro off a pad (I reglued it with Seal All).



HTEC and Yellow cutting pad on a PC at speed 6 is pretty effective at removing 2000 grit sanding scratches.



I have mixed feelings about the LC white polishing pads. I think the Megs yellow is easier to work with and feel that both finish about the same. I'll continue to play with it.
 
Cool, I am hoping to wetsand soon to remove the orange peel the paint shop left on my truck.



How long did it take you to do your car?
 
I just worked on a small section. I sanded just enough to scuff the surface. I then used a wool pad and OHC to level the paint. I followed that with a yellow foam cutting pad with OHC/HTEC combo. Then I used the orange pad and rotary with ZPC9didn't like that combo). Followed by a PC with white LC pad and ZPC. I then finished with a Megs tan finishing pad on PC with FP2. Looks pretty good. I have a couple thin scuff marks on the edge. It's hard to estimate the amount of time needed. Probably an hour or 2 per panel.
 
Well I'm opposite. LC whites are beautiful.

The LC orange pads can be a little fighty but overall OK

its the sonus das orange on a rotary that can really fight you.

Yep, I talked to a guy at a paint supply store and he said that 3m paper is what most paint shops use. He felt that 2000 was fairly safe and said that he rarely sold 2500 grade.

agreed, i find that they are thicker (6.5 flat pads) than most others, and when applying pressure to them, they don't give in as much. i wish i would of bought more when AG was clearancing them out...
 
wannafbody- Much as I malign the 3M paper, a lot of people use it. If you ever try the meg's/Nikken Unigrit stuff, I think you'll find that you won't need the wool pad at all (if that makes any difference to you).
