I'm actually using Meguiar's new Meguiars Synthetic X-Press Spray Wax. Very good product and seems to work well with ONR.

What can you tell us about pressure washers? I've been doing a lot of ONR washes and a small electric unit when necessary, but have been having some luck lately with acquiring dealership accounts (volume REALLY does pay by the way :thumbsup: ) so I was thinking about getting a "real" pressure washer for these cars. I thought if I'm going to invest in a pressure washer now, that I should ensure I get a model that will seamlessly adapt to doing home cleaning if I should chose to do so (here in southern Utah).



What words of wisdom do you have in the pressure wash arena?

You don't have to spend a lot. Look on Craigslist. Get you a trailer, water tank and if possible, two pressure washers. This way two can do the work or if one unit goes down, you will have another. I would rather by two used 600.00 pw than one new 1200.00 unit.



I would buy two of these....or one for now....

Get a tank. You can pick them up on Craigslist for about 100.00. They are 250 gallon food containers.

Put it on a trailer and bam, youre ready to do homes, fleet, and details.
 
I LOVE hitting the pavement. When I have slow days I will cold call. You have to have an A-Type personality to be good at it.
 
I went out today and cold walked dealerships all afternoon. I had been dreading it as that type of selling just isn't in my personality at all, but it sure did feel good when I was done :)

When the weather is bad or business is slow, why not go out and solidify business for the next year?

I spent two day at 4 hours per day going to businesses and pushing my glass cleaning side of my biz. I picked up 22 accounts that will pay me 50.00 each per month. My guy will be there at each place for an hour and I'm paying a flat per and he is set up as a sub contractor (thanks David Fermani!). He can knock out all the accounts in 5 days....of faster...if he wants so he can do more and make more.



Just eight hours on the road did this. Who know how many details or house washes I will get from these 22. It's all about the numbers and getting in front of people.

I am absolutely floored by this! 22 accounts gathered in two days. This is AMAZING! I imagine one's ability to get in front of people and really SELL will only get better with experience. I'm really impressed and can't thank you enough for keeping everyone updated in this thread. It's truly inspiring.

Thanks to both of you! It reassures me that I'm not just writing into blank space.



I just made my mind up this year that I was not gonna worry about where and when the business was going to come from. I have kids and I never want to worry about there well being.

I sold cars for 7 years and was a finance manager for 3 years. I was never guaranteed a paycheck and had to hustle my arse off.

I learned so much in those ten years. More than my 5 in college!

I've been really busy and haven't been around much.
 
Business has not been fun here in Boise to but I am up 51% over last year for some reason. This is my 10th year in business and thought I have seen it all but I am still learning. I took the Dave Ramsey classes now I run my business debt free and on a planed budget every month, which means more money stays in my pocket. I fine myself enjoying the business aspect of my business more, it was something I did not know about myself.
 
I had a $2750 pressure wash job last week that took all of 25 hours. The work is there, you just have to go get it.
 
Well I've finally got some time to check in with everyone. Site looks good! Hope everyone is well.



How's business been?
 
Summer was a bit slow when it heated up, people thought it was too hot for us to work. Drought doesn't help either, everyone was kind of waiting on it to rain again before they got their cars detailed. Then when it kept on not raining, they started calling again. Our Arizona trip was the best one yet, well worth the drive there and back.
 
Hell business for me was great this summer, but September/October has started to slow back down a good bit. Luckily with getting a shop on the 10th and talking with some people, business will pick up to be more than worthwhile through the winter.
